Different turbine and compressor (7 blade vs 6 iirc) then the GT55. Don't know much about them, other then they used to be popular in the outlaw class, but have been replaced with turbo's like the GT55.

I'll keep digging and see what I can findout. Seems like we have a few choices to consider.

The UTV9406 has a smaller A/R ratio than the Borg Warner, hopefully they have similar turbine disk size. Than the UTV might be a better choice.

I think want to use my old T-88 and throw on that GTX GT47 compressor wheel on it. It will be interesting to see how these big guys work out for making the big power

I think I'm just gonna pony up and order at GT55. Be after I finish up at Genesee. Unless Alamo can come up with one under $3k, I'll just order one up from FI.

Those budget garretts look like they are based on T-88 turbos. I would prior to buying, get the housing part #. Might be a cheaper turbo for us budget mind guys and have around 140lbs/min of air.

Tate, as for that FI GT55, I would be curious what compressor wheel they using?

It is a GT5533 just has the cast wheel and non ball bearing center section. But same wheels (size, blade count, pitch ect..) and housings of the GT5533R. The T88, and the TV series are different turbos.

Is it a garrett bearing housing? Or something different?

I "assume" it is a garrett housing, as they make most of the BB ones in a journal bearing as well, and they have lots of configurations not listed on their website.

Ok guys, I have abit of a scoop on that UTV9406 turbo. Its a big mother of a turbo. The turbine disk is the same size as the GT55 and has a turbine A/R of 1.00. I have a picture of that turbo with a turbine housing of 1.5

The turbo will move between 140-160lbs min and has a 95mm inducer. I can get a larger inducer 100 to 105mm. Its a garrett turbo, but not a GT series but an industrial turbo. In the picture I put a S366 silver bullet beside it just for kicks and giggles.

Also you silver bullet lovers out there take a good look at the S366 turbine housing. The turbine housing inlet volute divider has been eroded and there is a severe crack inside the housing as well.

Its one heavy mother of a turbo, I would guess around 80-100lbs.

No worries Kev, nothin that we can't handle. Have most the support stuff figured out, just have to get a truck so we can get to work. Lots of different parts available so its going to look abit different.

I'm just going to start with a worked over T-88. Once I out grow that turbo, I'm getting one of those big bad boys.

I found out Alamo has one customer outlaw car with two GT5533R on it, low 6's and over 200mph. Now that smoken fast.
