Kev, let me know about the turbo. There has been a run on the as of late. I think that we sold two last week, S595. Tate's looking into a EH-T impeller build for one with a stainless housing. Real whizzy stuff, I still don't know what I'm running, might run triples for our project truck, as I want spool-up with lots of mass flow.

Your secondary will never see the speeds that a single does. Instead of trying to reach a PR or 5:1 (or like your SB, 6.5:1), your secondary might go to a 3:1, most likely not even that high. Its work load is much much smaller. Step down to a 468, or a 368 with a t4. If you're running external gates, the choke point of the turbine really isn't much of a factor anymore.

Tate looking into a special S500 frame turbo build-up. Like Tate mentioned, you are not going to use the top part of the compressor map, if you luck you'll get above 3:1 on both turbos. There is very little chance of over speeding the secondary, if your external gate is sized large enough.

I'm game to help out, if you need help buddy. I've been sworn to keep secert the names of who bought the S-595's.

There are other one available, I'm going down today to get the low down for turbos. That turbo is used on a wide range of machines, so there should be other housings available. We just have to go thru whats available and whats not available.

I want to run one of these on a test stand and get the low down on them. There are a few mods you can do to the compressor wheel to improve air flow.

To bad Borg Warner doesn't rate the turbo housing like garrett does, so at least you could calculate when the turbo would start to spool at.

Found out today, that they really don't want to do a custom built turbo, based on the borg warner turbo. They can build a custom turbo, but its more $$$.

There is a 97mm inducer and a 105mm, but are more than $2500. The 95mm is rated at 160lbs/min.

So the price on the S595, is a pretty good deal, I think. I can work them some more, I have to put an order in for a few other turbos here shortly, maybe I can get a better price.

165lbs/min, is tons of air, or 2400 acfm. Your S488 is around 1700acfm

Kinda funny everyone want new turbos, all at the same time

Approx $1900 for the S595.

Here a link for a similar sized garrett

Tate, you see how much exhaust mass flow you need to spool that turbo up to 2:1 pressure ratio? It ranges from 50 to 70lbs/min of exhaust, or 700-1000cfm. That's going from a GT4202 which requires 35 to 45 lbs/min for the same pressure ratio, of course depending on turbine housing size. The secert to getting these monster turbos to work is getting even exhaust mass flow.

Just looking at the maps the garrett GT5533R is a better preforming turbo. Using 65% as choke defination, the S510 is 147lbs and the garrett is 160ish.

I bet that the garrett will also spool-up better than the S510.

So just throwing this out, what boost # you think one of these monster will get to on one of our trucks? I think they are more suited for truck running spray or sled pulling.

I think in a set like I am thinking of running, 50 lbs./min wouldn't be too bad. My 64 will flow that easily, and is at full boost by 1800. So if that means full song at 2k rpm from the bottom turbo, that would be just fine. The 64 will make the low end more livable than that POS 66 or my 74, and I have till 4500+ rpm to have fun with the big turbo. The downside to the GT55 is the cost. I know FI is making journal bearing GT55's, it might be more economical. I'm still tossing the idea around of going with another Garrett. Too bad the GTX wheel isn't out for the 55.
