i need help with numbers

ok so i will be getting a gt4094r soon, and after seeing video of a duramax with a vortech supercharger feeding a gt45 turbo (almost instant spool up and 750hp) i would like to play with the idea

heres the question
if on a gas motor the pulleys are set up so the SC is at max rpm at say 6500rpm
and if on my truck the pulleys are setup so the sc runs max rpm at 3300rpm then will the SC be spinning much faster at idle on my truck then it would be on a car?

its just slipping my mind weather the final motor rpm will affect idle speed aswell thanks

Yes the sc will spin faster at idle if it is still set to get its max rpm on a slower turning diesel.
formula: Drive RPM x Drive pulley dia / (over) Driven pulley dia. = driven pulley rpm.
Steve.

So this Dmax has a supercharger upstream of the turbo? Interesting. The fixed volume vs speed unit is feeding the load dependent turbocharger. Seems to me that it would be a good sled pulling idea where RPM is constant, but would be grossly out of proportion at low speeds or high speeds.

Thats the way I would set-up a blower to turbocharger set-up. How much do you want to overdrive the super, it comes down to how much air you need at wot.

Example, If you need 120lbs/min, you set the pulleys up to run that rpm. Of course that if your super has that much air. Roots style are the most efficent device for boost air up to 20psi. A centrifugal super will have to spin at rpm just like a turbocharger, and will really choke power down lower rpm's. Of course you can run lots of overdrive on the centrifugal super to offset that, but I've been told that a motor can't support that kinda load at idle. If you get that far Kenny, I want to see what your doing as it will be one cool truck. You might have to put on a p pump so you have enough fuel.

You sled pulling on Friday?

What time are you working on it to tomorrow? I was gonna leave here around noon, so I wouldn't get into edmonton till 4ish. Gonna drop my stuff off in Devon first.

Kenny, just buy a big enough super. At least then it will be worth the effort. Piers did a super build a few years ago. They couldn't get it to make as much power as twins. It was super responsive on the throttle and had no turbo lag (go figure) You'll always make less power than a turbo, just from the power required to turn the blower. Of course turbos consume power as well but not quite as bad. They are making pretty efficent roots style these days, so it might become a hot set-up. The nice thing about a roots style super is that you'll have boost at idle, if you overdrive it.

You get the 4094R yet? I would like to see how that turbo is configured.

that sound is a boost leak. not the turbo getting ready to let go. boots, clamps, CAC for leaks.

Another suggestion, I would check for air leaks on the head. That inlet plenum gasket as a tenancy for leaking and blowing out the gasket. Good luck buddy. See ya on the weekend.
