Ever tried using a heat sink, like ya do on semiconductors? Radio Shack used to have the kits. Clamping tweezers and surgical clamps are another possibility.

i have never used a heat sink. but, i have thought about picking up one of those 'third hand' soldering helper stations with a heavy base and alligator clips on articulating arms. right now i am just using a pair of needle nose vise-grips . . .

you might want to 'edit' the phone number in your post. the net is constantly scanned for personal contact info - a phone number in the format as you have typed is a typical format which is scanned for. you should type out some of the numbers in alpha-format and leave some numbers in numerical-format . . . (for example: '4 oh three.five 6 oh.two 5 four 4)

 

done and done. the guy i work with worked his magic, tweaked the design, and downsized it to one switch!

works like a charm - just don't have control over the 3 cylinder shutdown - but i don't really need it - if it's really that cold then the truck will take care of itself and shutdown to the 3 cylinder mode if needed . . .

so glad to have this all done! haha - i have been putting it off for over a year now - and it took him less than 2hrs from start to cleanup!
