What trck would YOU rather have?

I just got a few months ago a 2006 2500 Megacab 4x4 SLT with a g56 with 42k miles on the odo. The truck has been great and i get an honest 20mpg outta it. I just found a new 2010 mega with the 6spd and big horn package. The sticker is 50,800 and i can get it for about 38,500. I used to have an 08 auto and really miss the EB. Plus this new one has a trailer brake included.
The biggest question i really have is what mpg are you guys getting with the g56, 3.73, and the new 6.7?
I hate to give up the 5.9 and megacab combo as it was only made for 1.5 years and I love the economy.

To be honest I'd keep the 06 for another year or two. Big things are suppose to be coming for the cummins. The fuel mileage for some isn't all that much different. But I doubt that I would get 20 mpg on a long trip. Plus the only way to get the mileage is to run the risk of removing all of the emissions equipment illegally.
I miss my 5.9 because I got 21mpg with a smarty Jr and an exhaust/intake system.

I love the 06 cuz there are not going to be tons of them out there. However i was just driving here in Ohio and the heater stopped blowing hot air. After i went to the store it was working just fine. I know i should hold onto it just looking for someone to tell me that.

Keep it. Only reason I got rid of my 07 was that it was an auto (first and last auto!) and I couldn't find a good used 6 speed. The new trucks are a leap above what you have interior wise (my opinion) but I'd tradit it back for my 22mpg. I am getting 15.7 hand calc'd.

With the winter blend i am now at 17 mpg. I sell Dodge trucks for a living and it is hard to sit here all day and look at them. It is like an alcoholic working at a bar. The only good thing is I can drive one anytime i want and they encourage it so the systems stay charged.

Buy the new truck and keep the old truck. Both are keeper trucks that you would loved to have parked on your driveway.

Replace your radiator cap and top off with fluid. My 06 did the same thing and I know of a few others that did the same thing.

I love my 2010, the big surprise for me is pulling mileage is a good 2mpg better. Just driving I am getting the same as the 06.

i love my 6.7 better than any of my 5.9 trucks but, unless you are needing a tax write off , i would keep the 06 for now because of the new things ram / cummins will be coming out with the next little while . it is rumoured that they may have up to 450 hp and 850 on tourque as well as a possible 8 speed zf auto either mid 2011 or 2012 . if you are needing to trade this year then you will love the 6.7 . i get 18.5 empty on the road and 14 around town . with my 13 k lb fifth wheel i get 10 - 12 because of the wind drag i get a little better with my 30 ft goose neck flat bed if i do not have a tall load .

I love how dodge keeps the saleman in the dark as much as possible on upcoming products. But it does help me sell them cuz i can not look a person in the face and not tell them about the planned upgrades for the new models. I don't really need the extra power, but i would love better mpg. I just drove my first 6spd with the 6.7 and 3.42 gears. She was slow to get up to speed but rpms were lower at highway speeds. All in all i would rather have the 3.73 gears.

Keep the 06. The 5.9 is more in demand now and will be later until Cummins and Dodge do something differant. Not many 5.9's around here. Lots of 6.7's.

5.9's last about a week on a lot and will bring a better trade in my opinion than the 6.7. The 06 I have is selling, when available here, for more than I paid in June of 09 even with higher mileage. I wanted the 6 speed auto and exhaust brake that came with the 6.7 when I bought my 06, but did not want the emmisions crap and the pain in the butt.

Hopefully some one will figure out the 68RE so it can be installed in the trucks
currently running the 48RE.

As far as whats comming out, I've not heard anything myself, but, Cummins does make a 6.7 with 800 ft lbs of torque for an RV. I remember hearing when the 6.7 came out that it was supposed to operate at 850 ft lbs. Never happened. I guess does did not have and still does not have a tranny that will hold it.
