If Dodge were given the option of installing CAT engines instead of Cummins, would you buy one?

The C7 is too big and heavy for a pickup. The 5.9/6.7 Cummins "B" is really pushing it in terms of size and weight. The C7 is not that reliable of an engine, either. It still has HEUI injection (like a Powerstroke).
Cat does get impressive power out of it for its size. The C7 competes directly with the Cummins ISC, which has an extra liter of displacement.

CAT Engines are nice but I will have to stay with the Cummins. Our CAT Technician that services our Gens has some not so great things to say about the Medium and Heavy Duty Engines. That will stay hush, but I really like the brotherhood and sound of the Cummins!!!!!!!

the 2007 C7 has the CR fuel system. Here come the fueling mods.
A new Cat Common Rail Fuel System optimizes the performance and fuel economy of the C7 and C9 engines, according to Gauger. "The new fuel system provides greater injection flexibility to help these engines comply with the more stringent 2007 emissions regulations, and even increases fuel economy by up to four percent over previous models," he said.

I would have to see how it runs in a pickup.
We have a Cat in my old Fire Engine, and we have problems with it. It's 2 yrs old and have had problems since new. It's a 300 HP C7 Cat.

I might try a CAT after it being in a pickup for 10 years (so it might be in my price range) but the Cummins are always cheaper to work on anyways, I've always heard CATs are gold, and when something goes wrong they cost gold.
