Really Dumb!!!!!
I stopped at my local FlyingJ yesterday morning to fuel up and some guy was spray washing the cement around the pumps and as I was setting up. I first put some additive in the tank and as I was watching the guy hoping not to get sprayed, I looked down just in time to see a cardboard disc believed from the lid drop into my tank. Is this going to cause me any problems in the future? I hate to think that I may have to drop my tank and all I can see are $$$$$. I presume this would not be covered under warranty if I did have a problem and try to make a claim.
Wait, what ? You dropped something in the tank and are questioning warranty ? I wouldnt worry about it if it were me. I have found all kinds of weird things in fuel tanks on vehichles that ran just fine, mainly fuel injecter cleaner caps ! If your worried drop the tank and get it out.

and it for sure 100% sure, anything happened due to YOUR mistake, would NOT be covered under warranty.
if your worried about it, drop the tank like said above, or remove the bed and get it that way. can have the bed removed in less than 30 minutes

That totally sucks. I have always worried about that sort of thing with the amount of additives I have added over the years.
For me, I have a secondary container I got, squeeze bottle with a nozzle on it that I decant the additive into first at home. Then I know for sure that I am not pouring out of the original bottle and lose that stuff.
You need a friend with a small bore-scope with a retrieval tool I saw at Costco to go down the filler neck. Not sure if that is feasible or not with the roll over valve in there.

maybe an electrician friend or plumber friend can help you out with scoping/fishing tools . . .
i would guess you should be fine though. i can't say for sure, but if the cap floats you shouldn't have any problems because the entrance to the pickup should very low in the tank. so, it shouldn't plug off or get sucked inside.
like i said, i can't say for sure.
the beds are very easy to remove with a couple helping hands. you will have great access to the tank once removed. (if you are too worried about it)

i also transfer my any additives i use. i use clear 'nalgene' bottles i found which are the shape of a large mickey bottle. they are graduated to 300mL and are the perfect shape/size for my door panel! 3 of them fit perfectly next to each other.

don't stress. there is a pre-filter on the bottom of the pump (fine mesh screen). over time it will deteriorate and become part of the rest of the junk laying on the bottom of the tank. I have seen some NASTY stuff at the bottoms of the tanks I have removed. Even found a ton of plastic from the machining process of making the tank

Thanks everyone, I won't worry about it and glad to hear there is some sort of a screen that blocks crap. Good idea about putting my stuff in another container. Thx again!!!
my worries (if worried at all) wouldn't be about getting sucked up and into the fuel system - rather becoming sucked onto the end of the pickup tube thus blocking fuel flow.
but, like stated above, just a matter of time before it breaks down.
while i have never seen the pickup tube in your truck . . . i assume it would be engineered with a certain shape to not allow such items to become 'stuck' on the end.
