Really dumb question.
Background: I bought a '01 Dually diesel 6-speed manual. It's the HO with the towing package. I want to get some new shocks, but I don't know if I have the solid front axle. I looked and it doesn't look like it, but I'm not sure. The window sticker from when it was new says: "Suspension: Front, independent with coil springs". I'm assuming this means not a solid axle.
See what I mean about a dumb question.

then u have no solid front axle, so u have nothing to worry about, if your truck is a 4wd, then u have the solid front axles, Far as I know only the half tons, and all chevy 4wds have the cv joint type 4wds without a solid front axle..

I thought that if it wasn't a 4x4 it would not be a solid axle, but when I go to order shocks one of the options is 2wd and solid front axle. That was what I didn't understand.
Thanks for the help. I've more dumb questions, like the handle suggests.

Shawn, you're a gem!! That's perfect and the IFS is what I have. Thank you.
As an aside, I've been visiting this forum since we bought our truck back in July and the amount of info on this site is just amazing. Most of the questions I had have been asked before and the answers were here just waiting to be found.
My next project is a new 4" exhaust system, but I'm unsure about the catalytic converter retention. I may have to ask around locally and see if they really check that when they do a vehicle inspection.
Thank you all again.

Thanks for all the replies.
I ordered a set of Bilstein shocks, and the MBRP 4" turbo back stainless steel exhaust system. Both places I ordered from had 10% off and free shipping. Now to head to my son-in-law's when they come in for some help getting them put on.
