Question Popping sound when turning left ???

When I turn left, full lock or close to it I hear a pop sound. This is while turning at low speeds as in parking and backing my trailer.

Anyone else had this happen and know what it is ???

Mine has done this since day 1 when i brought it home and backed in the driveway, i was told it is a spacer so that the tires dont oversteer. Because with the bigger steering pump 30% than 08 and older trucks they need to integrate this.

My power steering pump also has a whine when it is turned the whole way out either way, again dealer says i'll have to live with it he says "when you have the steering wheel turned the whole way open in either direction with this bigger steering box it will make all kinds of funny noises, they all do it so far it is normal any further problems call us and we will look into it"

That is rediculous the mechanic told you that. Although there will be some noise when maxed out, it has nothing to do with the steering box. Its all about the max pressure. Anyway, research the threads on here about the steering noises everyone is having. I have had the dealer replace the steering box under warranty. Mine was making crazy noises and we were certain it had nothing to do with the pump. Several of the guys have had this same issue.

I ordered called bilstein they told me i need the 5100 all that is is the replacement oem, i want the 7100 with the correction of the right tire pull which i also have with 33's and he kept telling me i need the 5100. If you read on theyre site all the 5100 does is literally replace a broken stock one, and the 7100 is the real deal that will actually do something, thats what all these other guys run

Mine pops with the steering brace installed also. I feel it pop under my feet where the axle arm links hook to the frame. It mainly when I am turning going over bumps. Did it with my stock wheels and with the 22.5's

Check your pitman and idle arm ball joints - I had a similar noise under similar circumstances that I ignored - until my pitman arm separated from the center link when I was turning around in my driveway.

That's the power steering pump going over the relief valve. Its completely normal and no different than reaching the end of stroke on a hydraulic cylinder on a excavator and holding it there.
