Newbie here, going to seriously look at truck and got some questions
Hi guys bear with me (I'm a quick learner though), I am looking at buying my first diesel ever, a 2011 2500 Big Horn crew cab gonna check it out this saturday. I was going through the ram truck site and building one like the dealer has to see what options it may have. I noticed some things like LSD and gear ratios as options. I plan to tow a 16k gvwr 5er and want to know what option code to look for and where are the option codes at? My gmc has them in the glove box, just not sure on location of dodge. Also do all the diesels come with the 11.5 rear? if not how can I tell what this truck has? I found that many of you guys are deleting some emissions stuff and would like to do it just wasn't sure about a programmer for the 2011. Didn't notice one in the store atleast. What are the pros and cons of the programmer with the modules? I don't think I care to have one on my dash, but if the pros can outweigh it then so be it. Do the programmers automatically take care of things, like if the egts get high will they take over so nothing bad happens? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure I am getting the right truck for what these things cost. I'm a measure twice, cut once kind of guy. Thanks in advance.

Sticker will tell the gears, and LSD if it has it, 3500's come with LSD. All have the same Rear. I deleted mine, H&S has the most advanced stuff, Smarty is the only other option at this point but H&S is ahead of them right now. You can set defule levels so you don't need to worry.

You dont have to have one on the dash. You can go this route, and have nothing anywhere for that totally stock (other than missing some rather large and clunky exhaust filters) look....

I dont recommend running blind though, Its always a good thing to monitor your EGT's, Boost, Tranny Temp and Fuel Pressure, where its with the H&S setup or some aftermarket gauges.
