Thanks! What button do you push to clear the error message? And where did you mount it? Looks like underneath the steering column?

Regards,

Bob

Top right hand select button on the steering wheel and yes it's under the steering column shroud. I removed the lower section of the shroud to ensure there was nothing in the way of drilling. The shroud is a very close fit so the bracket has to be in the exact location and centered so it can be viewed through the steering wheel. I used 10-32 lock nuts and bolts to attach the bracket to the shroud, head of the bolt inside. I forgot to mention that you have to get the specific wire adapter for our year truck, it was an extra cost but well worth it. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out, I tow a number of different size trailers plus a dump trailer which needs a different brake setting for empty and full so I have them pre set and just change the selected trailer for full or empty.

Thanks, Busboy - I may just have a trailer shop do the install - I'm prone to screwing that kind of thing up...

If you do that make sure they allow enough clearance for the tilt wheel lever.

To be honest I did the installation quite some time ago and I don't remember exactly what the plugs looked like. I do remember that the trailer shop tried to sell me an adapter for the wrong year though. I had the correct part number I think from the tekonsha web site.

I've had oppotunity to use a truck with the integrated controller. Don't know the year. It works good, other than having to scroll through the menu to find the menu to switch from light to heavy trailer every 45 minutes hauling cattle.

Aftermarket Brake Controller

...is installed. Won't know how it works until the end of next week when we hitch up and head to Southern California where it's a bit warmer. I get the 'service trailer brake' warning when I first start the truck, and I also now have a CEL that I never had before, but I suppose that's normal. I'll eventually get by a dealer and have that cleared.

Regards,

Bob

I never got a CEL just the STB warning when starting. I might caution you to start off with a light setting, I was floored at how much more powerful the P3 is.

Thanks! I'll start light, and adjust as needed. Hmmm... maybe I need to look further into the CEL. It just came on after the controller install. Isn't there a key on, key off sequence for these trucks that will show the codes, or was that pre-6.7?

Didn't notice any problems with the way the truck ran, but I suppose I should get it checked.

Thanks again,

Bob
