HO or not

Ok I have seen the light and am finally ready to get a new dodge the only problem i am having is finding the right one i want a long bed, has to have lether, 4 door, the right color, you know has to be the right one but i cant find one that is a HO anywhere on the east coast does anyone know why and does the 800ft lbs make that much of a deference?

May have something to do with the 2012's coming out in not too long. There's no real difference in the HO except for the added torque so if you don't need it for towing, should be some pretty good deals on the non HO's.
I have the 2010 and love it, don't need the added torque so wouldn't be interested in the HO.

it is just a peak rating to keep up on paper with everyone else. I think in the spot you need it there isn't an increase and it doesn't come on that much quicker. I remember seeing some dyno graphs on the 2 motors and the peak was higher in the high RPM range so if you had to down shift it might be different. Also in looking at the other motors they don't make thier tourque were you need it any way. If you aren't opposed to programer save the dough and see if you can find a deal on non HO and let the programer make up the difference.

Doing deletes will void your warranty 99.9% of the time if you are taking the truck in for parts associated with engine, transmission, etc. Now if something inside the truck went wrong and they didnt have to reflash you would be fine with your warranty. You can save the equip that you take off and put it back on if you have to take it back in but thats alot of work. You can also use a programer with the stuff still installed. With that i believe you will go into regan a whole lot more and use lots more fuel.
I am happy with my deletes since day one and have over 15,000 miles on them and not one glitch. I stand behind the Cummins and as long as it is not abused it will last a long time.

If looking for a new Dodge I wouldn't consider anything other then a HO

The HO has a different tq converter. I sure wish my 2010 had a better converter

Yup, I wasn't going to settle this time around so I ordered exactly what I want, and the 2012 the HO is standard (for auto trans).

Once you delete and add the program you would hard to tell the difference between the HO and the non HO. Not sure if there is any differences in the transmissions yet. Other than that its just programing, same motor as it was back in 7.5- to present. The rest of the truck, not so. Ya there are a few connectors difference, but nothing serious.

As for the warranty void talk, just put the truck back to stock. I've never had any issues.

Torque converter is upgraded in the HO and I think 1 other hard part in the tranny...not sure on that but positive on the torque converter. If you get the "max tow" option you also get power steering cooler and finned rear-end cooler.

If you are from vermont stephens, in greenwich new york told me that I could do anything I wanted to the truck and as long as I dont hook it to a pull sled that they will warrenty it, I'd have to talk with them a little more about it though.

At 1,000 miles on the odometer, I just made an Interstate run to Fort Worth and back which was a good test for the HO compared to my 2010.

No question in my mind the 2012 upgraded motor is what I should have had in my 2010. By that I mean the 2012 is smoother, progressive and the throttle response is excellent. Overall very powerful in all the ranges. Tranny feels better too and at 80 mph rock solid.

The only reason to purchase the 2012 is for the HO. The rest of the truck is pretty much the same. I certainly wouldn't buy it for just a steering wheel upgrade.

Lined out. Best one yet.

Easiest way to tell is on the tailgate. There will be a High Output badge on lower right of tailgate. The changes came out mid year 11.5 so yes there are '11 that are not HO.
