Well my stock headlights suck, cant see anything. Is there any good headlights to replace the stock lights? My new ride is a 2012 3500.

 

I have a 2010 3500 and it has the worst headlights you can imagine .I'm looking for something better. I just about hit a moose the other night ,roads were wet and just didn't see it til I almost hit it. These trucks I swear have the worst lights.

 

I second terrible headlights. Also I installed a leveling kit, so now I constantly get flashed as if I had brights on, what is the procedure for realignment?

 

Convert your worthless incandescent bulbs over to true CREE LED bulbs with slimline ballasts. They are SUPER easy to hook up, have a 30k hour run life, are true white light (5000K) that pierces through the darkest of nights with ease....and best yet, they use virtually no energy to run, and are inexpensive to convert over to.

I buy mine through either AMazon or Ebay. Just search H11 LED conversion kit...it's that easy.

If you have the single bulb headlights you need an H13, not an H11. The majority of the LED headlights will incorporate some kind of fan to cool the diode as they get very hot while powered up. I've been through a few sets of all different brands in the past year trying to find the best. My truck gets very dusty/muddy at work and the fans plug up and burn out. Putco has a new style on their website that uses a copper braided fabric heat sink that they claim is the best in the industry which I will be testing that claim when their model with a fan I'm currently running fails. As for the light output, they are MUCH better than stock. I don't regret ditching my HID lights for these and they are also plug and play with no flashing or throwing codes. They may flicker a little which can be fixed with a simple to make or cheap to buy capacitor harness which most vendors carry as well. Easiest to just order it when you get the lights and install regardless if you need it to avoid issues.

 

UPDATE

After pimping the LED bulbs I ended up having to remove them because they were turning off for no reason. They first started to flicker, then they transitioned to turning off all together. I was able to drive home using the high beams, but that just ****** everyone off that was near me. I installed 2 different sets of "anti flicker" capacitors that seemed to work for a while.... I have no idea what happened...they just quit working????? Now I'm back to the shitty OE bulbs and am going the route of installing a 30" LED lightbar in the space in between the tow hooks in the grill area. The single row lights should not block too much air going to the intercooler.

 

Better off using a 6 ohm 50w load resistor on the low beam circuit to fake the TIPM and prevent the low beam shutdown.

 

What causes this problem?

 

The TIPM senses current draw, and with HID and LED lamps drawing less current than the halogens the TIPM shuts down the circuit.

 

I wonder if just leaving the fog lights on all the time with the low beams would do the same thing?
