Does anyone have a Crew Cab SRW 4x4 LONG BED?

I have an '01 Quad Cab SRW 4x4 Long bed and was wondering how the parking and maneuvering is with the new LB CCs. It is almost a foot and a half longer than mine and just want to be able to park it every once in awhile. I'm looking at ordering a 2011 Crew Cab Laramie 4x4 SRW Long Bed....

I did have an 03 dually now I have a 2010 crew cab long box. Did not notice much difference other than being narrower. I have a back up camera on the new one which is nice for backing into spots.

No problem, but I've always driven long wheelbase trucks

I like my long bed for pulling my fifth-wheel camper. But, if you don't need a long bed why get it? The short bed without a doubt would be easier to park and maneuver in many situations. I'm a little surprised that the 2010 is approx 1.5 feet longer than your 2001. My current truck (crew, long bed) is about 9 inches longer than my previous 2006 truck which was a quad cab, long bed.

The 2010/2011 CC LB 4x4 is 259.4" long and my 2001 QC LB 4x4 is 244.1" long. 15.3" longer. I'll be pulling a fifth wheel all over the country next year and personally like the extra space of a LB....

Yes, the extra length means larger turning radiuses, and it tends to stick out into the row in a shopping center - but it's not designed to be an in-city commuter. I think you'll be fine with it, even at 15 inches longer. I have gone through a succession of longer and longer motorhomes (started out with a 21 footer and now at a 41 footer) and I wouldn't be surprised if you've graduated to longer fifth-wheels - if you can do those you can do the measily 15 inches too! Good luck!

FWIW, when we take the truck on errands, I find it easier to back into a parking spot - the mirrors are great for this (not to mention the backup camera).

Thanks for the input! Does anyone know what the Chrysler Retiree referral program is for discounts? My salesman said he'd hook me up with a retiree and their referral discount when I want to order. Also, does anyone have any idea when the best rebates are during the year? Right now it's at $2500 through August 31st....

Check the turning diameter specifications on the new truck-vs-your current ride. I know one of the improvements Dodge made was 1555 seris u-joint in the 2010 trucks, so they could turn alot tighter. You might be surprised that the new, longer wheelbase truck, turns tighter!

Gotta disagree with that - my thrid gen ('06) turned tighter than the fourth ('10) does - I can't make the U-turns I used to.

Well, curbs are only advisory in nature with these big trucks anyway.... Aren't they?
