2010 Ram chrome bumpers.

I have the 2010 Dodge Ram diesel Laramie with the chrome rear bumper, plus the integrated back-up sensors. Sometime in the last couple of days someone or something came in contact with my bumper and I now have a concave dent in the area of the back-up sensor on the passenger side. It looks like whatever did it must have struck the sensor as no damage can be seen in the chrome other than it is pushed in.

My question is this, could it be possible to remove the sensor and then take some sort of puller and insert it through the hole and then suck out the chrome? (Hope this makes sense) I am really **** on the condition of my vehicles and this one drives me nuts. I have only had this truck for just over a month. I found out that a new bumper is worth about 700 bucks.

Man $700 for a cheap bumper is outrageous. Shouldn't be more than $200 considering how flimsy they are.

I agree with you, I remember when bumpers were made to stand up to lots of abuse, but those days appear to be gone. I hope that someone here can give me some good advise.

Hmmm, if that bumper is $369, why is the dealer trying to rob the guy for $700?

Is that what the bumper is worth? $369? I tried to find one on a parts list online but was unable too.

If this is the price and I can't figure a way to fix the bumper then I may call the Dodge dealer in Great Falls Montana and order it from them and take a couple of days and drive down and get them to replace it. I have dealt with them before and Montana also does not have a sales tax.

Someone had posted an ebay link for a 1500 new bumper and it was $369. Apparently, not only did they delete that link, they deleted the whole post. Similar bumper, so I was saying why 369 for that one and your dealer said 700.

Yep -- That was me. I wrongfully posted the eBay link...

The seller on eBay is the dealer who sold me my truck! So if a dealer on eBay can sell the bumper for $369 online, why should anyone have to pay around $700 in person is your point.

It's a valid point / part of what I meant to suggest and something the OP should consider and maybe check out another dealer!

Good luck Albertaguy!

I have fixed my bumper many times with a piece of 2x2 with a rounded end and a lead shot hammer.Get underneath and hammer it out,or hammer it in.You can almost make it look new.

Thank you KWKING, I kind of thought that this should be possible, and my problem should be even easier as I have a hole where the back-up sensor goes.

I think the dealer body shop was just trying to make a quick buck and if I find that this is possible to remove the dent, I will let management know.
