Code P2196

Hey Guys,

I bought a 2010 2500HD with 40,000 last week. First Dodge Ive ever owned. I have had a 03 and an 04 Duramax. Anyway, drove it for a few days and coming home from work Friday morning I got a P2196 code. (i have a Scangauge II). I reset the code and on a short errand running trip later in the morning got the same code. Well, since the truck was so new to me I took it in to the dealership to have it checked out.
First thing I found out was that the sales manager likes mods and the dealership put the 315 tires on the truck. I got to talk to the mechanic that did the repair and he said that it was the front O2 sensor. Protocol called for him to swap the front with the back sensor to verify that the prob moved with the sensor. Which it did. Of course they didnt have one in stock but sent a runner to a dealership 30 miles away to get a replacement.
After I got the truck, of course this was the first place I came to "study" my new ride, I requested a build sheet on my truck and it said that the PS cap recall hadnt been done yet. I mentioned that to the service guy while they had it and they replaced the cap. I also told him that because the truck now had 315's on it, that it was about 8 mph off. The mechanic said that he changed the tire size to correct the difference. He used a 235/80 which seemed to come closest to correcting the difference.
Long story short, I was impressed with my first dealership experience, and really love this Cummins Diesel. Deletes to come soon...lol

Welcome to the Forum!

And its awesome that you found a good dealer. Feel them out about other mods, and see how they would work with you on anything you plan to do.

If you have any questions, by all means. Ask!
