2010 The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

Stopped by dealer to look at the new 2010 Ram HDs and here's what I think.
The cruise control stalk is the same as what they put on my 2005 PT Cruiser and they suck!! I was always hitting it with my hand when turning the steering wheel and it warbles like a joy stick its not near as nice as the existing setup. And the cup holders suck also. And the Megacabs are not plastic like some have said, I put a magnet on one today and it stuck like glue everywhere I put it. And the bucket seats in the two 2006s and the two 2008s I have owned feel the same to me as the ones in the 2010 except for the lumbar which hurt a lot more it the 2010. The power recline is nice. And I knocked the plastic trim off the bottom/side of the seat base when getting out with my heal, its right on the floor. And the door handle to get out is in the wrong location. And no storage under the right rear seat if the truck has premium sound and no fold flat storage at all in the rear. And tow haul button is now on the dash instead of in the end of the shift lever like existing models, that and the exhaust brake should be on the shifter where they would be easy to access without leaning out of your seat. No chrome side moldings on any of the models. I like the new style non chrome clad aluminum wheels on the Laramie. Its hard to tell a Laramie from the base model when looking a it from the side. The center console in the existing models is way nicer then in the 2010, way better cup holders and just as much storage. The storage bins in the rear floor are nice but you can't open them up all the way if the front seats are back too far, and the plastic tops will be scuffed up in no time if people sit in the back. There's probably more positives and negatives over the existing models but that's all that comes to mind by just looking at them not driving one. Would I trade me 2006 with 13,000 miles in on a new one?? Not unless I come down with Alzheimer's some time soon. So like Gomer says, good luck to you and yours and every one that buys a new 2010 RAM HD with a Cummins

I saw my first 2 srw big horns yesterday and I like them from the outside. Dealer was closed so couldn't see inside very well and these 2 were the only ones on the lot.

I was bought out 4 years early with an early retirement that will start 12-31-09 so I am wondering if I should keep my 05 3500 srw with only 48,000 miles or pony up for a new one and keep the same payment? Not sure if I will qualify for a new loan once I retire and won't have cash to buy outright. Hmmmm.

That's an easy decision. Keep up the maintenance on it and run the 05 into the ground and pocket all the extra money from the payments once you pay it off. Then pay cash for a new truck 450K or so miles from now.

I only owe $10K on my 05 so I will probably keep it and when I hit the lottery buy a new one!

Good call!!!
I'd never buy a new vehicle if I owed anything on the one I was thinking of replacing.

The truck is much much nicer than my 07 5.9 with 60K miles on it except for the emissions junk. I like my truck and will keep it but as soon as they figure out how to fix that little problem I'll look seriously at them.

I'd like a Mega DRW or 2500 CC SB in solid Rugged Brown, laramie of course.

You like that Rugged Brown, huh? I actually saw it inside a showroom and was very impressed with it, whereas before I saw it, I'm thinking brown would be ugly. But it was sharp.

Yeah it looks pretty nice. Kinda trippy with a tint of deep purple to it. My next truck will either be that, blue or red... but heck I'll probably be driving my truck for 5 more years since I have a work car now .

Hopefully I'll see the brown outside sometime soon and will look for the purple tint.
