i have a 2010 2500 diesel mega cab that i put 20" cepeks on with 285/65 20
didn't need a lift and they fit good, a little "minor" trim of front fender liner but nothing major. don't know on mpg etc, only 2700 miles on it!

That size is a 34 - 1/2 inch diameter tire, about 11 - 1/2 inches wide. The narrower width may have helped stuff it in - can you be more specific about the "minor trim of the fender liner"?
