Need advice on 2012 6.7 cummins
I have a 2012 cummins. I have a check engine light coming on every so often so I took it to the dodge dealer. The dealer had the truck for 6 hours going through what they say is the the diagnostic check that Dodge tells them to do. When I pull a trailer from St. Louis to Chicago the light will go off. When I set idle or in slow traffic the check engine light comes back on. Is this the egr valve sticking? Also can I just get rid of the dang egr valve with a delete kit? Will it help my fuel mileage? What is the cost of the delete kit? I saw a sinister delete kit that runs $200. Would that work? Any advice would be appreciated. I have 63,000 miles on the truck and the warranty has expired.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I would think the dealer could retrieve the code and tell you what's up, should be stored in the ECM. My advice is to buy a code reader (all 4th gen owners should have one under the seat) so you can be an informed consumer. Next time it throws a code, pull over, plug in the reader, google the code and you'll usually know what is wrong and even how to fix it.
Or, I guess you could go ahead with the deletes and not worry about a code reader.
