dual alts on 2014 3500 SRW

Does anybody have the dual alternators on their 2014 3500 SRW? Sat down with the dealer today and built my truck. However, the dual alternator option was "grayed out".

Has anybody been able to order a truck with the dual alternators?

When I (paper) built mine in Nov it was available (not greyed out). I hope that is not delayed like the rear air bags that I'm waiting for!

Not sure about the dual alternator option, but according to a Ram Rep the 'Hotchkiss' rear air bag option for 2500/3500 is supposed to be available for dealers to place orders beginning Feb 7.

Yes, that WAS the date. I just received a call from my dealer saying after a conference call, the factory has pushed it back another month (30 days). So, hopefully March will stand.

The dual alts are still grayed out. But, I finally found a dealer who was willing to call their rep and ask about it. Should know the results tomorrow.

What kind of accessories are you running to need a 2nd alternator?

None, yet. I figure while I'm ordering the truck, I should get everything I MAY ever need. it's only a few hundred dollars now. But, if I were to need to add one later, it would probably be much more expensive and time consuming to install.

I'm also ordering the bank of aux switches. I don't have a use for them right now either but thought I might as well have the option to use them if I ever need it. Kind of on the fence about this option as I like using the dials for the heater/ac.

I'm with you jnovak, This is going to be my last truck so we're going to get everything we can. I'm an electrical freak and I will need all the power I can get when I need it. The aux swithes are on my list too.
A call to my dealer is on the list, but these two items were orderable last time we paper built it.

I gave up on the dual alts I'm disappointed about it, but was tired of waiting and went to 4 dealers who were not much more helpful than saying "We can't do it because it's grayed out".

But, I did order the truck on Saturday. A Laramie 3500, Megacab, 4x4, SRW, Aisin. Now, time to wait some more.

Anybody want to buy a deleted 2010 Megacab with 75k miles and a smarty jr?

GREAT! Can you remember the code for the dual alts? I'm going to get my dealer on it.

Anyway, happy for you getting your new truck before me!

Thanks!

I never did get a build sheet with dual alts, so I don't have the code. But, the last dealer said he could get dual alts with DRW+Aisin or SRW+68RFE. But, not with SRW+Aisin.

That is ok...I can live without the dual alts. What I really wanted was the 3500 SRW + Aisin.
