Aisin not available in 2014 3500 srw?
I just went to the dealer to order a 2014 SRW 3500 with the Aisin and was very disappointed when they informed me the Aisin required DRW. From reading other posts, it appears to me the Aisin is available with SRW...or at least it had been in the past.
Has the Aisin always been available in DRW only? If the Aisin was available in SRW, is this a temporary restriction or a long-term change RAM has made?
BTW, I did not order a truck because the Aisin is a major factor in the buying decision and I do NOT want DRW.

A good friend of mine at work picked up a 2013 3500 SRW Crew 4x4 with the Aisin back in October off a dealer lot. Still grinning from ear-to-ear.
I'd do a web search of existing dealer inventory in your area. Click on the window sticker to see what it's equipped with. Also Dave Smith in Kellog, ID could point you in the right direction.

I spoke with my kid a couple days ago, he still loves his 2013 with Aisin, it's been very cold where he is and he said he hasn't shut the truck off once in the last 5 days so it's been idling lots with fast idle at times he hasn't had a single code thrown. This proves to me that the addition of the DEF and other modifications does work and time for me to buy. The fact that the Aisin can't be ordered on a 2014 SRW has me disappointed, I'm going to try up here but failing that I'll be looking for a 2013, I sure would like the high mount camera but it was very hard to find on the dealers lots, although it's only $300ish one dealer said who would want it.

Aisin not available in 2014 3500 srw?
It is not gone, Aisin cannot supply transmissions fast enough so they have put a ordering restriction on srw trucks. Best thing is for your dealer to keep on trying to order. I would be finding a different dealer too if they gave me the comment about the online "dream truck". Morons.

Asian SRW 2014
Interesting read. I ordered my 2014 in October and had no issue with the SRW but regrettably had to choose 3.42 diff. I was hoping for 3.73 but the order would not go through.
Don't give up.
BTW - I love it!

I test drove a brand new fresh off the truck 2014 with the 385 horse engine and the aisin 6 spd auto, SRW 3500 4x4 today. Wonderful truck, better mpg than a used 2012 I looked at about two weeks ago. It did come with the 3.42's and I am unable to find a truck with 3.73's.

3.42 v. 3.73
When I ordered mine I wanted the 3.73 as well and was angry to learn that it was not available on a SRW, only DRW. I ordered it regardless with much apprehension because of pulling a #16,000 5W. Wow! what a surprise. It pulls quite well so if your concern is pull power... not to worry if your tow is at or less then 16K.
When pulling that heavy you know it's back there but the drivetrain is well matched to pull it.

I just tried to order an Aisin 3500 SRW today and no way. Dual rear wheels, OK. Four doors, OK. But no standard cab SRW.
However, I found one on their lot built in May, 2014. Standard cab, SRW, Aisin.
The availability comes and goes, probably due to inventory of the trannies. Anyway, I found an excellent one almost exactly the way I wanted it and bought it today!!!
Wow! What a nice truck.
BTW, the end of the 2014 ordering period is coming very soon and incentives go away after Monday.

I went in on Saturday to quote a new Laramie 3500 SRW Mega with the Aisin at my local small town dealer. The order program would not allow Aisin as an option, didn't even show up on the list. We did some calling around and were basically told that they were out for 14, and it wasn't considered a priority build for 15. I assume that is also due to availability, but best estimate was 2nd quarter of 15 to get the Aisin. From my understanding it had nothing to do with SRW or DRW.
Now my question is, do I need it and wait, or just go with the 68rfe? Looking to replace my 06 Mega, which is basically a grocery getter with occasional light trailer duties. I have 180k on a stock tranny now with no signs of giving up, so apparently if I am a making a 48 work the 68 should be that much better. However, this would be my first new pickup, and I kind of have the position that if I am spending $50k+ I am going to buy what I want.
And it has to be a mega, we have 3 kids under the age of 2, and a crew just doesn't cut it once you've had the mega.

If you want the Aisin, like I did, you'll have to look around on the lots or do a search.
The 68 is a much better tranny than the 48 and you had good luck with your 48, so strength is probably not the issue. The Cummins with the 68 has a bit less power than the HO, but more than your '06. You might be very happy with the 68 in a 2500.
After putting up with a 48 for eleven years, I was determined to get an Aisin when they started putting them int the pickups. What a cool set up! And the torque is just amazing from the HO Cummins. But if you do get the 68, you can get a 2500 and the rear coils. That is a nice setup too.
