Deleting the 6.7: A guide to making it run right! (4th Gen Section) UPDATED 6-6-11

Egr disable.
Thanks Blake. I just purchase my 2017 2500 cummings with 42,000 on her. Love the truck. I wish I could do the deletes as I have 7 yr 140,000 warranty that dont want to voild it. I like the clean exhaust as a pose the dirty smelly exhaust. But wanted to some how disable the egr. The two tuners you mention do the delete. But many people say a lot about the Bully dog gt 40420 and it has a cable lock to hold a tune in memory. Do you have any pros or cons on the tuner.

I'm new to the 4th gen trucks. I have a 1995 12V 2500, 2002 24V 3500 and just acquired a 2015 CC 4x4 DRW 3500. I've been reading up on the deletes and had a few questions I'm hoping someone can answer.
Since the truck is still under warranty I'm looking at the "Cali Delete" where the EGR items are unplugged but not removed along with fabricate a pipe to bolt in place of the DPF.
When just unplugging the EGR items does that prevent them from getting full of soot and plugging?
If I have to plug it all in, put the DPF, and remove the tune for warranty. How far before taking it in do you have to run the vehicle so it does show any issues in the computer to the dealer?
Thanks in advance for the information.

I know the 2012 and earlier trucks could get away with unplugging the EGR without any other modifications. I ran my truck like that for the first couple of years and gained a mile or two better fuel mileage, but I would have a check engine light and remote start won't work. To my understanding, the Stealth Module is the only one that is not detectable. I'm not certain if you return to stock tune using other tuners if the techs get an immediate notification or if they have to actually dig on the Mopar scan tool. Since you have a 2015, is it an aftermarket warranty? Personally, being a 2015, I'd take it in to make sure ALL of the warranty work and recalls have been done and just do what you're gonna do. As for emissions (if it applies to you), there was a guy that lived in Phoenix that said he was able to slap the DPF back on and make the drive for smog checks without causing any issues.

Thanks for the information. As you point out the truck might not be under warranty. It only has 30K miles on it. I bought it from my parents who didn't drive it much.

3 Monitors Not Ready
Hi guys. Very nubie to the forum and to diesel trucks in general. Picked up a used 2009 Dodge Cummins 6.7 recently. Clean rust free Arkansas truck 225k miles.
Fully deleted with everything disconnected except throttle valve. Must be tuned but we don’t know what was used.
Trying to pass Wisconsin emissions but getting three monitors not ready: EGR, Catalyst and O2. Catalytic converter not complete, egr flow not complete and o2 sensor not complete.
Is there any way to get passed?

I could be wrong, but you might need to register or find someone in another county that will allow you to claim its stored there. I recall my parents having to do this with an old Ford E-350 van we had, but we kept it at our house in Kenosha and never had to have it inspected. It would never have passed. This was back in the 90s and we've all since moved to the Southwest nearly 20 years ago. The only other way would be to return it all to stock as those sensors are currently turned off, thus showing they aren't ready.
Edit:
Oh! And welcome to the forum!

In a bind. Need a delete tuner, etc
My truck needs an egr and DPF. I would rather do a delete but I can not find a tuner for a 2016 Ram 2500, at least one they will sell in the U.S. Can somebody point me in the right direction. I can not use my truck. I am ready to do the delete immediately.

Google RaceMe and/or MM3. I have the RaceMe Ultra and like it. My truck is a 2010, but they have them for up to the '20 model year (I think). You can buy directly from them; they're in Canada.
