Delete cat too?

Well I'm going for the full delete just wondering if I should get rid of the kitty while I'm at it. Going to keep stock muffler. Can I expect any drone?

I dont have any drone on the hwy; but at idle and near idle I do have a faint surging drone. Almost feels like a resonating vibration transmitting down through the exhaust system.

On my 08 deleted everything but the stock muffler, and it was whisper quiet.

On the '11 I have a 5" turbo back, and between 2100 and 2350 RPM's it will make you want to take a DeWalt to your temples.

My homemade 4in exhaust (front half) and using the stock muffler/stock tail pipe, sounds near stock (way to quite for me). I'm going to try removing the stock muffler and doing old straight piping

On my '08, the straight 5" TBE was too much for me. Sounded great on my '06, but I could never get it to sound right on the '08. On my '11, I went a little different route, stock downpipe, into a short (about 4ft long) 4" delete pipe, then up to 5" after that then thru a 5050xl muffler. Then side exit in about the stock location. To "me" it sounds just right, absolutely no drone. Louder than stock, but not annoyingly so.

Fortunately, I saved all the old parts from my '08 when I traded it. The exhaust for the '11 didn't cost anything extra.

Jeff.

Update on mine....

The 5" no longer drones. Courtesy of a 4" down pipe being fed by a 2nd gen manifold and S467.

I still have the stock cat with muffler with Cali style deletes. I had some drone, but then I took the 5" exhaust tip off and no more drone at 2100 rpm.
