so far just that 1 hicup with a CEL for egr disabled and already have that fixed. i am headed on nearly a 4k trip next week and will be dragging my new 7x18 enclosed trailer fairly loaded and will report mileage results
Question about the 2011 smarty
I just saw this post https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...e-t292768.html and it references the HO version computers as being able to detect the programmers. Is this true of all 2011 Rams or just the HO versions?

Evidently their change made it so you cant add a programmer anymore without it being detectable at the dealership.
Thats what needs to be fixed with the programmers as well or wait till your warranty dies by their design or yours

its like the old saying goes. if ya wanna play, your gonna pay
so like anything, start modding it and in one form or another its going to cost ya. for anyone out there that wants to mod their trucks to "hide" anything so they won't get denied warranty, to me that is just being a snake in the grass. man up and take responsibility for your actions and what YOU did to your truck.
(that was NOT pointed at anyone in particular AT ALL, I have just seen way too many people AKA snake in the grass, try to pull the wool over on the dealer and "get away" with stuff when in actuality, if the customer was straight up front and honest, the dealer would have worked with them from the first second they walked thru the door. its the people that lie and come up with stupid stories that are the ones who end up crying and posting on forums that "this dealer killed my warranty" blah blah blah, so be up front and honest with people and life will be much more fun)

While I agree that mods in general are bypassing the system I have a hard time with the path taken for emmisions control at such a cost to fuel economy. The only reason I would consider a programmer would be to improve the sucky fuel mileage the truck gets when we all know that it doesnt have to get that poor of mileage. Good for the enivroment can also mean better fuel mileage as well as exhaust emmisions. To my mind, and I may be wrong, changing the program to get better mileage outweighs what little exhaust emmisions result from the program change and I can't see how that's a warranty voiding issue. Just my 2 cents.
let me see if i reading all this right. i just ordered a 2012 4x4 auto to replace my 2004 4x2 6sp. my 2004 gets 18 pretty much all the time. are ya'll saying this new truck is only going to get about 12 if i'm lucky and in order to get close to what i get with my old one i need to delete all the dpf junk?
i'm guessing a detele kit from the turbo to the stock muffler and a smarty jr will work?

Ok, dumb question?? Is this whole thread devoted to the same smarty jr sj67 listed in the dtr store for 2010's? With the talk about beta versions, I wasn't sure if the DTR store had the most recent offering or not. Thanks and sorry to be the dense one! This looks like the ticket for my 2010. I love the truck but its performance and mileage are a real disappointment compared to my 2005!
