As I understand it the beta testing is for the 2011 models only.

well sneaking onto parents computer for a minute. with the trailer loaded (harley and all the "girls" crap)

weigh about 12,5k

160 (bottom tank full to rim, top tank full to rim and filled 6-5 gallon cans for emergency purposes) gallons of fuel on board. did not have to fill any fuel tanks and did not touch the jugs. got to parents house and transfered rest of fuel from top tank to bottom tank and had over 1/2 tank in bottom tank after xfer. got 12.2 mpg on the way up. smarty set on 2, timing 1. was NOT easy on the truck. was in a rush to get here and drove straight thru. 5mph above posted speed EVERYWHERE including going uphills. coolant temp reached 217 one time and fan clutch kicked on and cooled it right off. tranny temp reached 172 at its highest. I was a whippin the truck everywhere pulling the trailer. right now since the trailer is off (for a little over a week now) am up to 16.3mpg (was up to 18.2 but was babying the heck out of it driving like MS daisey) (evic, and mine actually reads .4 less than actually hand calculated).

remember I am still fully emissions legal. only running "S" software and have not deleted anything yet.

Those numbers sound pretty good, , So you are towin around 4500# sail. How are the egts? My last truck a D-Max with a PPE on the middle setting whould heat up quick with the same load. I have read all your postings and respect your feedback. I have a 2011 2500 CCLB and tow 4500# every day ( inclosed trailer) and get 11.5 all the time. I put the camper on the truck and tow the boat scale # 14,600 ., I get 10.5. I think that is OK, with wind and hills. I can tow my dump trailer full at 10K trailer only and get 11. My main question is Should I worry about EGTs?

Did you put guages on your truk? if so can you show a pic of how you mounted them. I know they make a pillar mount but I do not want to loose the grab handle

well just got back. just under 3200 miles total driving (whoopin the truck) with high winds (head wind no less) last night in SLC to Spanish Fork area, Moab and Northern NM. drove all night last night (18hrs straight) and ended up overall mileage at 12.2. We were heavier coming home cause of my sons dirt bike and all his crap from spending the summer with my folks in Idaho. happy with the power, pulled great going up some pretty steep mountain passes.

highest coolant temp seen on return trip was 219 degrees
highest trans temp on return trip was 186 degrees

i still need gauges so can't post any of those numbers

Does the Smarty abserve the max EGT set by the ECM and defuel when you hit that? I only ask because this is my first Dodge and my last truck an 05 Duramax that I had guages in and a PPE tuner . On the Middle setting towing 6k I could hit 1400 degrees really fast.

I get that, but how do you watch EGT without a guage, Your Coolant temp is low in VS my D-max should that be my trigger to get out of the right peddal?

pretty soon. Lucus is sending me his delete pipes since he went nutty on his truck. already have the egr kit. going with the sinister one since it keeps the coolant passage in tact from the head to the bleeder pipe.

Great write-up and review.

Will this tune work for the 11.5 HO version ?

Thanks,

Bill
