I have looked for the thread but was unable to find it. There was a youtube link and it was just unbelievable. It is quite common and most often it's the belt but has also been the dampener. The spark is very noticeable and is from the dampener to the oil pan and makes a ticking noise. If that's it you will see the spark by laying under the truck and looking up.

i will just again but i dont think its a spark because i would most likely get shocked if i touch the oil pan and when i touch the pan i can feel a tapping noise with my hand and hear it.

I am going to do a video and upload it and see if anyone can tell what the heck it is.
thanks

the video is attached on the link. You can hear the tap start at 53 seconds in the video. It starts around 1500 rpm and from the video you can hear it get faster and faster as the rpm climb. In the video right around 2 minute mark you can hear it and as i speed up is sounds like it gets faster and faster.

Any thoughts?? no one seems to have a clue what it is.

Just a thought, it could be the oil pump. I tried installing an amsoil dual bypass on the frame rail and the vibration in the lines and housing for the filter created a tapping sound that increased as the rpms of the engine (and oil pump) increased. I switched to am amsoil BMK-21 and it does not make the sound/vibration. The 25 took the oil from the filter to the housing and the full volume of oil at full pump pressure is what was doing it. You could just be hearing the pump vibration in the oil pan, I can hear mine and it is almost exactly like what I heard from the bypass.
Good Luck

Could it be the pump "timing"? I have a definite tapping near it and the service tech told me there was a fix, but since it was not considered a warranty repair I would have to pay to do it and he could not guaranty it would fix it.

Seems there can be at tap at the pump if the pump inpulse is out of sync with the motor ignition cycle. I may have this all wrong since it was passed to me third hand
