standard or auto trans
standard or auto trans
I am wanting to purchase a new 2500 cummins. I was going to get a stick until I saw these HP/Torque ratings. I know there has been major problems with autos in the past.
Now i am wandering if I should get an auto.
Thoughts please ?
2013
• 350 hp @ 2,800 rpm
• 370 hp @ 2,800 rpm
• 385 hp @ 2,800 rpm
• 660 lb-ft @ 1,500 rpm (manual trans)
• 800 lb-ft @ 1,600 rpm (68RFE trans)
• 850 lb-ft @ 1,600 rpm (Aisin AS69RC trans)

I wouldn't be worried about the new auto transmission options as they have been working well and the Aisin is a medium duty trans.
I have a 2013 with the manual, my wife and I love it because we like to put it in the gear we want when we want. That being said, I do expect to have to put a clutch in it prematurely because thats how it goes with the dual mass flywheel scrap from the factory which I'm fine with doing. The truck has plenty of power to do anything I want with it.
Unless you feel you have to be the most powerful truck on the block or have an actual preference in shifting or not should be making your final decision.
