Regens and Additive Usage
I used the Power Service additive when towing in the past with this truck, but did not when parked or sitting on the pad for long periods of time.
I started using Power Sevice all the time last December. I last added DEF on February 2nd. I’ve only used 1/4 tank since then with about 4500 miles, and have not seen a regen since indicated on the display. Went to the Dealer for oil change last week and made sure they scanned the computer for codes related to the DPF. Nothing found. Last code related to the DPF was not indicated by the check engine light but was picked up by the scan tool at the dealer that resulted in a forced regen. Have not seen any soot in the tail pipe. Next time out on 95, gonna leave it in 4th and see if it starts a regen. Have not tried that yet. May not be necessary either.
So, the question is, does the constant use of an additive decrease Regens and DEF usage ?

According to what you read from the Additive Manufacturers yes they reduce soot and therefore Regen. I have used Diesel Kleen which is endorsed by Cummins and have switched to Hot Shot Secret EDT just to see if there is any difference. Hot Shot says their stuff will do a little more than the Diesel Kleen. BOTH say les regen.

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins and also have used Diesel Kleen and Hot Shot EDT. I am presently using the EDT as it is suppose to do a few more things. I have noticed a reduction in Regenerations and my exhaust is extremely clean. The engine runs quieter and smoother with the additives. Both additives claim a Cetaine increase of 7 which I believe because of the engine being quieter and smoother. If you have never tried one or the other give them a try.

Hey John
Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have used the product name Diesel Kleen in my
post. Diesel Kleen is made by Power Service, small letters above the name.
Good to hear your seeing what I’m seeing.
I just bought a Hauler for my Rig. I put 2/3 cup in each of the 75 tanks to if it reduces the
little bit of sute I see at the tailpipe and the bed. It’s powered
by a Cat.
Still have the Ram, but it’s for sale.
