Regeneration started - what to do?
While driving around today, the little screen told me the filter was 80% full and that regeneration was necessary immediately. Shortly thereafter the screen told me the engine? was regenerating but I shut the truck off before it told me, if it does, that it was done. How long is regeneration supposed to take and does the truck tell me when its done. Have a 2011 2500HD six-speed manual with about 1,200 miles.

Quick fix, 20 mins or so driving at highway speeds, or if slower a lower gear to get your RPM's up. That will regen the DPF
Correct fix, delete it.
I had never seen a message to regenerate on mine, and cannot say if there is a message to signal completion. Sorry.

My "normal" regen runs for about 15-20 miles @ 65mph. I did a regen, earlier this week after driving in the city for 2 weeks straight (never completed a regen) during that time. I don't know if it was the city driving or just a mileage thing (5000 on the odo), but I did a 40 mile long regen@ 70mph. Never had one go that long before. No warnings on the EVIC, btw.
Also, as far as I know, the EVIC warning is just there @ or above 80%. Even if the warning is gone, it could still be doing a regen.
