New truck fuel mileage?

I am considering a new PU and wonder what kind of mileage the 2013 trucks are getting. I'm thinking the urea stuff may have made it so they could develop a more economical engine. How is their mileage compared to the trucks of the previous couple of years?

I don't know of any (well, maybe one) 2013s on here yet. Check back in a few months. They are supposed to get about 2mpg better because it uses less DPF on account of the DEF.

700 mile round trip driving 70-75 mph. Going EVIC indicated 19.8 mpg. Coming back EVIC indicated 22 mpg. Calculated was 19.6 mpg for entire trip. Some pretty good head winds going is the only reason I can think of for the difference on mpg. Truck had 875 miles when the trip began.

That's incredible fuel mileage, especially for a new truck that isn't even "broke in" yet. As good as or better then a deleted non-def 4th gen.

My truck gets 19.6 with 4.10 gears 2wd dually. That's not bad.

I love the truck. I still have my 12 DRW. If I would not be so upside down I sell or trade for a 13 DRW. I just love the nww touch screen nav and ipod interface. The USB ports in the console. And I know this is a 2500 apposed to a 3500 DRW. But this truck is alot quicker. Alot! And thats even with my DRW deleted and a smarty.

Ok so I just bought a 2014 2500 cummins 6.7. I looked through a bunch of forums and my questions is. Should I use tow/haul mode when towing a light utility trailer. I work on motorcycles and haul them around at most with two bikes on my 5x10 trailer I might be pushing 2,000 LBS. Also I keep hearing you should leave the exhaust brake on all the time to keep the turbo clean and keep soot out. And the only time to turn it off is during cold winter condition. Im new to the diesel world and I need some reliable answers. I live in garner, NC and it is flat as it can be. I'm going to ask my diesel tech at the dealer just cause he is the best in this region. One more thing my truck will be used for running around town and family road trips. There is not a lot of stop go driving were I live just a lot of highways with most of my destination being 20 to 30 mins away from my home when I need to run errands

I use tow/haul whenever I have any trailer hooked up, as for the exhaust brake use it as much as possible especially in cold weather as it helps with engine warm up and helps keep the turbo clean, the only time to NOT use it is in slippery conditions.
