Hi all. I have a 2006 Ram 3500 Mega Dually and love it!!. I have seen a range of 13 to 20 MPG and have no compaints. Typically I get 16 MPG on a consistent basis. I am looking at purchasing a 2011 Ram Mega Dually but wondering what I should expect to see on the mileage end of things. Any replys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot Rammer's!!

 

I am only getting a 13-14 right now. But like on my 2006, I don't expect good fuel mileage till close to 40-50 thousand miles. My friends 07 6.7 was getting around 17-18 before he totaled it. He seeing good mileage around 40,000 and totaled it at 348,000.

I just got 16 mpg running 80 mph with 1 snowmobile in the box on a little over 1400 mile trip

 

I regularly get 24-25 with my 03 D3500 2WD dually @ 65mph. My 07.5 D2500 4X4 was getting only 13-14 under same conditions until I did the total delete. Now it gets about the same as my dually. I don't believe you can get good economy with the EGR and DPF intact.

 

15.5 MPG in my '08, and around the 17 to 18 MPG area in my '06.

And yeah, I'm waiting for the emissions stuff to fail so the dealer can fix it ..... then I'll bring it home to delete it.

I am getting 15.7 mpg, 15,700 miles on 2010 ST 4x4 G-56 6 speed manual, 3.73 rear, 50/50 combination of around town and short highway trips.

 

I get 12.5 mpg all city driving with occasional race with those 1/2 ton hemi's. and i stay right with them. But it's a 4x4 auto with 3.73 and only 700 miles on it

 

I get 10.8 towing a 3500# trailer every day. Love the truck , Mileage sucks

 

I get 12.5-13.5 using my truck 90% highway. Crap mileage for sure.

 

So with deletes your 07.5 4x4 is getting the same fuel economy as your 2wd 5.9 powered 2wd truck. If this is true then deleting is clearly the answer.

To boot your truck is now getting 24-25 miles per us gallon of diesel while driving at 65 mph. That is truely impressive. The deletes took you from 13-14 mpg all the way to 24-25 mpg. Really?

Pardon me for being skeptical of your claim. I do not know you & I do not want to call you a liar but I am having a really difficult time comprehending that this is possible.

Am I alone here?

 

My last tank was 14.6 mixed highway and city. My truck only has 17,000 mile on it, and the K34 recall has been done.

i have an excel spreadsheet which automatically calculates your MPG and adds up your payments & stuff if you need to track MPG.
PM me if you want it, or you can host it/post it for folks to use.

I used $4500 in fuel every year, needs records for taxes.
it adds up the totals if you have to pay more than once (when it costs more than $75) and it adds your amount of fuel, then shows the price per gallon, and that lets you know if the fuel station is cheating you.
and it has a comment column for what trailer you had on.

i think the ~20mpg guys are looking at the overhead

my 2006 4x2 SRW does 15~18, and shows 20~22 on the overhead constantly.
we see these MPG threads all the time, and it's hard to get folks to put whether they hand calc or watch the overhead.

my 2004 4x4 did 15~18, but showed 18~20 on overhead.

 

Just got back from about a 400mile trip. Running speeds from 65 to 50mph pulling 10k off the bumper and got 8.3mpg on the dash.

 

I don't blame you for being skeptical; however, I drove 470 miles and used 20.6 gal fuel. That calculates to 22.8 MPG (overhead claimed 24.7). Big difference over 13-14 that I got before doing the deletes. I was driving in Minnesota on state highways so I held the speed down to 60 for most of the trip; however, it improved slightly(according to the O/H) when I got back to SD with 65 mph speeds. Winds were light so were not much of a factor. Since then I pulled a trailer down the interstate with a Polaris Ranger on it and only got 13.5, but was driving 75 and had a cross wind or headwind much of the trip. I guess my point is we are really being lead down the garden path by the EPA cramming DPFs and EGRs down our throat. Sure you may be able to run you truck inside the garage without the annoying diesel smell, but we sure have to pay for it at the fuel pump!
