The advertised power rating is available in SRW or DRW with the AISIN, regardless of the axle ratio.


Nice truck gsbrockman....even the color i wanted to match my trailer....although the transmission tuning for the SRW was detuned to 850 tq to preserve the rear axle in SRW form....hence your rating of 850 for the 2014 dually.

 

At work we run 2 5500s with the Aisin. 1 is a standard cab with a winch body and the other is a crew cab with a welder/service body. The standard cab comes in at around 12000# and the crew is just over 16000#, both get used to pull deck over 20000# pintle hitch trailers with a backhoe on it and we have never had a problem from the transmissions from either. Now we keep fighting the DEF junk with the standard cab, went into limp mode(top speed 5mph), towed to Dodge, everything replaced and still in limp mode......

my only complaint with the 68rfe is that it unlocks the converter on every shift, something that the Allison doesn't do- not sure about the aisin

Jumping on here a little late, but I have the Aisin on my 2015. Pulls great. Drove the Penn Turnpike this past summer from Pitt to Harrisburg with 12K trailer behind me. No problems at all.
Got 61k miles now.
I have been looking a t new trucks and personally will not buy one without the Aisin.
