Interesting info about new Aisin trans.....

I just got our dealer launch kit on the new 07' Ram chassis cab and I was sitting here reading the salesmans pocket quide. Flipping through I notice it says the Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission carries a 3yr/180,000mi warranty. This is printed in the booklet about 6 times, so if it is a misprint it is a big misprint! I personally thought that was awesome. Especially for the guys whe are putting on a lot of miles in a hurry.

Yeah, but not a lot of years on that warranty. So maybe not he best thing for people who do not put on many miles, but if it says 180,000 then I guess they expect it to last that long, so it prolly wouldn't matter if it were 5-180,000 either for the low mileage guys as long as it lasts...

Remember, this transmission, at least for this 5 minutes, is used in a commercial cab-and-chassis application. Look at some of the warranties offered on drivetrain components on Class 8 rigs. They expect these units to rack up the miles.

yeah, that is why i mentioned the mileage warranty being at 180,000. That is a lot of warranty for one...

Why not 10/180,000???

What, they afraid the seals are going to dry up if it sits in the driveway for three years without being used? I don't get it, seems like they could extend that to 7 or 10/180,000 without it costing them anything.

And they may in a consumer versus commercial application. As I said, though, commercial warranties typically have very high mileages versus time durations.

Let's wait and see what the warranty looks like if/when the Aisin makes it into the consumer (pickup) vehicles.

Rusty is right fellas.

Most commercial trucks carry a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty anymore and in our case the Cummins we equipped it with carried a 5 year 200,000mile warranty.

I LOVE the Aisin trannies!!! I have one in my Jeep Cherokee that I have treated brutally for years and towed 2X the recomended weight for over 90K miles before I overheated it and burned it up. I now have over 180K miles on the new one and it still runs strong! I would love to have that tranny option behind a Cummins more than a Allison!
