I am at 30k and it's time to change the fluid. According to the manual, there is no mention of a filter. The schedule says to change the fluid at 30k, 60k, 90k, etc. The pan has a drain plug in it so a drain and fill will be easy. What am I missing here...no filter?

 

You need to re-read your info.
30k = drain & fill
60k = replace sump filter and fluid
90k = drain & fill
120k = replace sump filter and fluid
150k = drain & fill
180k = replace sump filter and fluid

Sump filter part number is 68224232AA
Transmission pan gasket part number is 68214914AA. The gasket is reusable a few times, but I would keep one on hand.
Save yourself some serious cash and source some Mobil 3309 transmission fluid. It will save you lots over the ASRC fluid.

Thanks for the info. What you said agrees with that I found out, but not in my owner's manual schedule of service. I am not sure where I am missing it.

 

Look in the Diesel Supplement, around page 342.
