Air Box

I just changed teh oil in my 2011 and checked the air filter. I cant even put my hand through the hole this engine has to pull air through. What is the best intake system for this truck??

I have an 11' as well and I am happy with the S&B intake system. I have not installed on my truck yet but I have seen one installed and its a perfect fit. Looks very good installed.

Did you take the big plastic piece out of the intake pipe yet? Most people call it a silencer. All you have to do is remove the filter top piece and the 1st pipe, reach in and pull it out. That will give you more air for the time being.

just add a psm kit to it and leave the silencer baffle in it. that is not what it is for. it is straightening vanes to reduce side shear in the turbo

That big plastic "Whales Tongue" is 100% useless, unless of course you are trying to take about 50% of the airflow away.

Carl, I definately mean no disrespect, but that thing is completely useless if you have a modified CTD.

OK, I'm new to this forum and to the Cummins Diesel. But what is the Home Depot Mod?

After looking at it and seeing the huge lip left after pulling the silencer out I left it in. I am no engineer but have ported many heads and a shelf on the intake creates buffeting. I made swiss cheese out of my air box instead. I agree with Carl, sending the air straight to the turbo is important.

get the swiss chease out of your airbox. it lets hot expanded air in and reduces turbo effiency

some guys buy 3" or 4" hose (dryer vent tubing or whatever) and cut a hole in their airbox. make a flange, attach the tubing and route it towards the front bumper.
I have also seen homemade hoses run to a hole cut in the cowl for cool pressurized (at speed) air
