Exhaust question

So my brand new 11 3500 is going to give an ulcer. I love my truck and have not had any issues other the ones I am going to describe.

I have noticed recently that on the back quarter panel above the exhaust that ther seems to be a light tan film almost like the blck soot my 05 used to do. It comes off real easy not like a diesel soot. My Dmax never left any kind of film, soot or anything, it truly burned clean. You could almost white glove the inside of the tailpipe.

Has anyone else noticed this. I have an appointment on monday for this and the slight deisel smell in the cab an am going ask about my 12 to 13 MPG's. Any thoughts? I really thing that all three issues are tied to each other but not sure.

uhh, uhh, I am not sure I know exactly what your concern is?

Short answer, yes they are all tied together. It is a HUGE Diesel truck!

The issue is whether all three are normal on a 2011 cummins. I thought the new deisels were supposed to be super clean burning.

What does the inside of the tailpipe look like?

Relatively clean.sort of has the same film...I could just be paranoid. Just taking it in as a precaution.

i didn't notice any film (i didn't look too close), but the truck ticked, crackled and smelled pretty bad for the first 500 miles or so. After that it has been fine, other than the regen almost burning my leg from 2' away from the exhaust! Bone stock for now...
