Wondering

Wondering if it is just going to be programming or a whole new redesign. Would hope programming so can take mine back to get reflashed or something.

I would have to guess that they will have to put a new tranny behind it. The 68RFE is an excellent transmission, it just cannot take much extra hp or torque (I am running the smarty on the 40 hp fuel economy tune with no issues). I would love it to be as simple as a reflash for the complete package, but I have my doubts.

They could upgrade the weakness in the 68RFE better torque converter and shafts ect. The 68RFE has some room to be upgraded without a whole new tranny.

Gee Wizz - I wonder if mine will show up with this???? Seems like I'm waiting until 2012 for it.... (patience Larry... patience) But I thought the wire piece said regular cab - so that would seem to put most out.

I've been watching this all day. Many updates and graphs showing changes. These changes will be added for 2nd quarter production and on.

Edit: Footage of the reveal and some rah-rah'ing, rightfully deserved.

BTW, for those hoping for a flash, it's not going to happen. It's a new PCM and also a new converter....

Should make customers happy with thier $40,000 trucks and do the upgrade for free, but sounds like they doing the same thing in 04 when they upgraded to the HO half way through the year to catch up to everyone else.

they probably wont but wish they would upgrade the manual tranny to keep pace with the power also

instead they are hoping to bury the manual trucks via not uprating them anymore or so it appears

The press release mentioned "a tradesman value package" available only on the "regular cab".
Also mentioned that the uprated engine is resticted to 3500 duallies with a special rear axle.
