2010 Dodge 6.7 Cummins problems

Has anyone experienced any problems with the 2010 Dodge Cummins 6.7 engine?

I know there were a lot of posts about problems with the 07, 08 and 09 regarding soot build-up and emissions.

Soot build-up and emissions are terrible on the 2010 and 2011. If you want better than 13mpg on a 10 or 11 you will need to do the deletes.

2010 Dodge 2500

If I do the deletes to get better diesel mileage on my 2010 Dodge 2500, it won't pass emission inspection and I don't want to void my warranty on my truck. Anyother thoughts?

Not entirely true...my 2010 CCLB was getting 18.25 mpg highway at anything slower than 80MPH before I did the deletes...in fact, the only reason I did the deletes was to get rid of the extra oil my engine was making

Now, that doesn't mean the engine isn't better off without all the emissions garbage strapped to it...

Then don't delete it...Warranty WILL be lost.

If you drive only on the interstate with no "daily driving" you will get the mileage described by Sig600. If you are worried about warranty, keep it 100% stock. My opinion though, it will not last as long as doing deletes.

A word to the wise about deleting. If you want to play, be prepared to pay.

Its gut wrenching to become your own warranty station on a 50k plus truck, but, 9.99999999 times out of 10, its worth it. Ive never heard of anyone that regretted deleting, with the exception of they put a monster tune on a stock tranny, ended up with grape nuts for gears, wanted Dodge to warranty it, and got laughed at.

HAHA. I cannot believe that people run on "Hot" with stock trans. Honestly, a trans is pretty cheap considering the longevity. A billet converter and shifting manually would save the trans a bit though.

Correct, I forgot to mention that...I get around 14.5-16mpg daily driving. Also agree with everything you said about deletes and longevity.

I've discussed my deletes with my dealer, they understand why I'm doing it, and promised that as long as we are all honest with each other, they will stand behind any problems I have that are not directly related! I'm not planning on running a tune any hotter than 100hp, and usually will run the 30hp tune...but I'm trying to be a good beta tester for Bob and try everything out for him

A 100 hp tune, playing around, will pop that tranny... I keep mine on the 40 hp tune and things are very happy.

I have 12K on mine with no problems at all to report, All stock. The fuel mileage averages around 15-17mph for my mixed driving comute which is mostly highway. Haven't really been on a long highway trip yet to experience the highway mileage. But for a truck this size and weight I think it is pretty good.
Someday I'll do the deletes. But for now I'll preserve my warranty and be vigilant with doing and documenting my maintenance. Until the deletes I will change my oil every 4K and the fuel filter every other oil change.

I've run mine on hot **** a few times. Its a pretty peppy, got into the low 40's for boost. Mines hasn't had any issues so far. I'm not worried about the warranty stuff, I rather fix it myself anyways...

The truck is a pretty decent package. Just awaiting for a few more bits and its going to one strong ride.

Looking through the warranty manual it states that the following as reasons to void any warranty:

Modifications That WILL Void Your
Warranties
These actions will void your warranties:
• disconnecting, tampering with, or altering the
odometer will void your warranties, unless your
repairing technician follows the legal requirements
for repairing or replacing odometers; or
• attaching any device that disconnects the
odometer will also void your warranties.

It also states that:

Your warranties don’t cover the costs of repairing damage or conditions caused by any of the following:

• tampering with the emission systems, or with a part that could affect the emission systems.

Which leads me to believe, and Chrysler agrees, deleting the emissions crap is not a valid reason for voiding any warranty, but it will void the warranty on the emissions system.

I would highly discourage anyone going out and putting on a Smarty at level 8 or 9, but doing a delete and keeping a tuner at a realistic power level doesn't give Dodge any right to void the warranty. If something breaks it may be hard to disprove the tuner, but it will be equally as hard for them to prove it was the tuner.

I spoke with Chrysler today and they agree that removing smog euipment isn't going to void the engine warranty as long as it isn't the cause of an engine failure. My local dealership service department is willing to stand behind the product as long as I'm not out hot rodding. A moderate tune (40-60hp) or better yet, stock with emissions disabled (my plan) isn't going to cause a problem. The diesel tech also said that their scan tool can determine the level of tune that has been installed as well.
