where to connect to switched power?

I am installing gauges and need to know where to connect to switched power other than the cigarette lighter.

I cannot get to the lighter wires because of my trailer brake controler is mounted over the ash tray. Don't smoke, the ash tray was not needed.

I found a switched power wire to connect to and have power to the gauges.

Fuel pressure and EGT work very well. The boost gauge goes to 0 but will not register pressure. I do not think I kinked the tubing but will trouble shoot it later when I have more time.

Can you hear air coming out of the gauge? Where did you tap it in? Air horn or boost bolt? You wont really see any boost revving the motor in the driveway, you need to put a load on the motor and haul some butt

Don't hear any leaks at the gauge or at the engine. Replaced the third center bolt from the rear of the engine on top of the manifold with a hollow bolt and attached the rubber tubing to it. I know that I have electrical power to the gauge as the needle is below 0 before the key is turned on, it goes to 0 when power is applied.

I don't think I have any kinks in the tubing, but I will not have time to check it out until Friday.

I drove it and got on the throttle pretty hard, gauge never moved.

Fuel pressure stayed arond 9 psi. Original lift pump. Pressure is taken at the bottom of the filter which is post filter pressure. This way I can tell if the filter gets plugged or the pump is failing.

EGT stays between 500 and 600 degrees at a steady 70 mph, so I know that I have plenty of boost. It will climb to 1000 when I get on it hard at low RPM (1500). The probe is located in the manifold near the 3rd cylinder.

If you can even hear the turbo, you are running some amount of boost. I just installed my Isspro's from DieselManor. My problem is that i dont get a good amount of Fuel Pressure. I get 3-4 under load and 5-6 at idle. The very first time i started it, I was at 8-10 at idle, but it has settled. I'll get under there and check everything out.

If you don't have any pressure and there is no problem with kinked tubing or boost bolt install, you probably have a bad gauge as stated above..

Tomorrow morning I will check the pressure line to be sure that pressure is getting to the gauge.

the lowest fuel pressure reading has been 8 psi and the highest is 10. It generally stays at 9.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow, even though it is hot and humid.

I HAVE BOOST!!!

two problems.

first checked to see that air was getting through the tap. NO air flow. Go back and re-read the instructions. Use the bolt next to the valve cover! missed that when I read it the first time. Move tap, check for air flow-good.

go for test drive. NO boost on gauge!!!

disconnect tubing at both ends - no air flow- one wire tie to tight. re-tied not so tight.

Problem solved.
