Okay , I've read the dislike thread . <br>But more importantantly... What were the things that SOLD you ?? To me (as a Ford owner ) were some minor details like , Hour meter ,Check guage light , ETC..<br>Not so minor things.. Looks (no doubt a classic) ,the Cummins 5.9 HO .<br>Did dealer service enter into the equation (that was what did it for me )?<br>I just hope the competition level stays as strong as it has been . The trucks we all drive now are a far cry fom just a few years ago. My only dread is what will they cost ??<br> All the best, John

 

Cost was definitely my concern when first looking at them. If they go up any more the loan companies will have to go more than 6 years, or a lot more people will have to have more cash on hand. Guess I shouldn’t trade every 2 years. Definitely like all the power, although my V-10 seems to have more acceleration from 0-60, I saw plenty of diesels pass me on the approach to the Eisenhower Pass last summer. Of course my V-10 was broken in and I’m not used to shifting the standard yet. It’s been quite a few years since I had one. The brakes are such and improvement over my 2001 and the brakes on my 98 couldn’t even compare. The steering is very noticeably improved and the ride is smoother than the 4x4 2001.

I've had two Dodge gassers and 1 Chevy gasser and a Toyota in my life. 3 motors in the Chevy gave me a bad experience to never forget, so I switched to Dodge in 95. The new commercial with the HEMI is what got me down to the the dealer, but I told myself the next truck is a Cummins powered Dodge. So it happened, I now own a Dodge diesel... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Since they are all priced about the same for comparable equipment packages, price didn't enter into it. The Cummins engine was probably the most convincing factor of all, I like the looks better than the other two dominant OEM's, POWER (as stated by others), larger brakes, stronger clutch, the new trailer towing mirror design (minor consideration), comfort in the seat on long trailer towing drives, etc...

 

As I don't have it sitting in my driveway yet, I won't comment on the truck itself, but I will on the cost. I went to two GMC dealers and one Chev dealer; one GM dealer was slightly helpful. The Sierra would have cost me another $3000-4000 more than the Dodge. The dealer tried to sell me on the Duramax over the Cummins. I told him that was a wrong angle to take; Allison transmission over the 47RE would be more of a selling point. I love the look of the Dodge also.

 

How's this? Just got back from dumping a load of bricks and stuff and according to the city of Edmonton weighscale receipt I gave them 2557.3 pounds of garbage. I can honestly say that I forgot the load was back there a couple of times ... then realized that the truck was just a bit smoother on the speed bumps! ;D Also, was carrying this around for the past 5 days, today was the first day nice enough to be out offloading it! So, it comes down to POWER, COMFORT AND PURE ABILITY,(and it's only an SO : which I for one am lovin'!)

 

Looks vs the Chevy. That evil bowtie look has got to go. The Ford looks good too (just not the F150's).<br><br>Feel - It fits me better than the Chevy or Ford so I'm more comfortable. Some may think the seats are thinly padded but thick padding doesn't feel good to me (and I have a skinny butt so I can't explain why)<br><br>Cummins - now quiet enough for sitting in traffic. I know the others are quiet too but they aren't a Cummins.<br><br>Steering vs the Ford (never drove the Chevy). <br> <br>Chevy felt cheap with cheap looking plastic and thin body panels. My opinion. That's why I didn't feel the need to even drive one.<br><br>Dealer experience vs what I've experienced at my local Ford &amp; Chevy dealers.<br><br><br>

I agree, what were they thinking? Even though I am not a GM person, I liked the looks of the earlier model better than this evil grin look they have now. Saw one in black yesterday at work and it was awful looking.
