Two Cycle Engine Oil Eh?
Two Cycle Engine Oil Eh?
I see that people use 2 cycle engine oil in their fuel to add lubricity to it. Sounds like it would work........... but I'd be concerned if there was any detergent in that type of oil. Does anybody know if there is ???

I would have to agree with Luke S. Power service and others seem to have lubricating additives. It would be hard for me to poor 2 stoke oil in my fuel tank. If 2 stroke oil is so good why doesnt someone market it for diesel engines? Just my 2 cents

I added a quart to my tank today. I know that might be way too much. The brand I used was Pennziol "multi-purpose 2-cycle premium engine oil". It's certified TC-W3. Oh, and more importantly, on the back of the bottle it reads, "helps keep spark plugs and exhaust ports clean".
I didn't notice anymore smoke. But again, the motor is quiet. I'll keep adding iol to the tank.

My first impression is to agree Luke. However, myself and a lot of people have used MMO for many years. What's in that stuff?? It's a mystery! Could be it's 2 cycle oil? (I'm cautious as well, but there are a lot of people who do use 2 cycle, and it is made to burn.) Personally I stick to the big sellers, like MMO & Power Service. I've used Howes, and Howes Meaner Cleaner. I wouldn't hesitate to use Lucas, and used to use Stanadyne, but it's expensive stuff. I won't use 2 cycle, because I have had good luck with the others, and like you maybe I'm cautious.

I'll stick with my PS and MMO for now. I'm sure the 2 stroke will not harm anything due to how much it is actually diluted, but would rather wait untill there is some actuall testing and the bottle says "can be used in Diesel fuel" or DC/Cummins says it is OK to use. I guess I'm kind of a chicken **** when it comes to my $35K truck.
