Toyo M55 265 70R 17 - Road Noise?

I am looking at putting some Toyo M55s on my 06 in the stock size of 265-70R-17. Does anyone else run these tires? I am a little concerned about the road noise that I might have.

Thanks.

I have not noticed any raod noise with mine but they were on the truck when I bought it so I don't actually know what its like with a different set.

They are my first set of Toyo's and as long as I can afford it I will replace with the same when they wear out.

I have had them almost 2 years, they are one tough tire but they are a little noisy, compared to the stock tires that came on the truck, but then I dont mind my truck being noisy, the whole truck is noisier than it used to be,As someone else put it once on here ,it constantly sounds as if a semi truck is beside you.I find them noisier at regular street speeds as opposed to highway speeds.I would buy them again if they sell a 285/295 size .Search out Festus's thread on this forum and sign his list for a bigger size of m-55s.The total noise is still less than a second generation with BFG ATs.So its not that bad.I would just like a bigger tire next time.

The M55s are killer tires. Like was mentioned,if they made something bigger than a 265/70/17 for our trucks I'd have a set now.

I wouldn't say they're any louder than any other A/T I've ran. I've definately never thought they were too loud.

These responses are pretty much what I was expecting. I have been looking for a compareable tire in other makes but todate I have not found anything. Some tire shops try to sell me lesser tires, and some just plain admit they are awesome tires but they don't sell them; then they give me directions to a Toyo retailer). If I ever buy non-Toyo they definitely have my business.

I was told the stock BFG's were rated for 60k, I got 100k out of them (i.e., not wore out but to the useless stage). I am being told that M55's are rated for 100k, you do the math...

Thanks for the responses.

I had M55's on my old Ford, they didn't last long at all but nothing really did on that truck with the dual I-Beam thing.

I doubt you'll get 100k out of them though (or even 50), they're a pretty aggressive tread.

I had the M55s on my '01 GM 2500HD. I had probably 30k on them when I sold it. I easily would have gotten 50k+ out of them.

Wear so far in 24,066 miles is down to 14/32" tread left .New is 18/32".Mostly driving empty 1/2 @ 60 mph+ on highways, the other 1/2 split between city and gravel roads.I don't know if thats good or not ?

Seems good to me, gravel is REALLY hard on tires.

I had 285-70-16's on my '99 and loved them. It cured the vibration problem that started and ended with the removal of BFG TA's of the same size. They did make some noise at 45-60 mph. Perfect tread design and next to no lead to balance. I wish Toyo would read Festus' post and the list of wannbee buyers and at least release some 285-75-17's.

Think about it this way. You're currently averaging just over 6000 miles per 1/32" of tread worn. If they continue to wear this way you'll get about 96,000 miles out of them if you run them all the way to 2/32".

Thats a LOT of miles out of a set of tires.
