Toyo M55??

I had a blow out and now need a new tire (s). I can get one smokin deal on toyo m55's.....i have heard they are a great tire.

What have you guys heard or experianced with this tire??
I plan on going with the 285's since they are load rated E and 3700+ lbs.

Thanks,
Jon.

I've always used M-55s on all my pickups, excellent tire.
You have to like them though, they last a long time, least I've got out of a set is 90k. Get them siped for better winter traction and longer life

But I recently switched to siped Toyo H/Ts on my 2500 and didn't realize what a smoother, quiet ride I was missing. It was like driving a different truck.
Picked up an average 1 mpg also.
The H/T seems to be the same high quality as the M-55, my feeling is they may last even longer than the 55 since as they aren't as aggressive. Only had them for a week of snow and ice though, seemed as good as the 55's for traction. They also come in an E rating.
I'm making the switch permanent.

I have M55s on mine. Junk IMO. Only 34k on the truck and they are pretty much bald.

Very loud too. Similar to BFG MTs, maybe even louder.

They seem like they are not a very good tires.

I have Pro Comp MTs to put on and I think the Cooper S/T is much better tire.

The M-55's are loud as hell! I don't know why this is, because there not very aggressive. They are louder than BF mudterrians. The only tires I've heard that are louder on the hiway, are super swampers, and my michelin militarys.

As posted above get em siped, and they will be an ok all around tire. And they do get decent wear.

For the absolute hell I put my tires through, I'll buy another set of BFG AT's. Love them; great mileage (+45,000 miles), right sizes (P295), good for towing, going anywhere I want, but best of all, every town in the US has a BF Goodrich dealer......destroy one while on the road, voila, a replacement in less than an hour.

THe wider the tire the louder....

LIke Bill, I have ran three sets of M55. This last set is the 255/85R instead of the 235/85R I ran earlier. The 235 were very quiet. THese 255s are much louder. The tire shop I use here is a large Toyo dealer. They get the same feed back. The 255, 265, 285 make alot of noise. Under comperatble driving conditions these M55's will last along time. I got almost double the miles out of these as compared to Wrangler AT or Dunlop AT. Match the tire size that is best match to the tire rim width. If you go wider, expect less tire life and more noise.
