10 plate and towing
I have a stock truck with nothing other than a straight pipe. I was looking into getting some timing 16* and a 10 plate and 3gsk. Would those of you with 215 hp pumps that tow heavily/ frequently tell me how this combo worked for you. Did your clutch hold with plate in stock position. Did you have temp issues and if so what resolved them 4inch and intake or will i need a larger exhaust housing or turbo. I ask mainly because i'd like to run a 10 plate an 3k but an 11 seems safer considering I tow so often, and I'm not the only one who drives my truck so it needs to be fool proof plus i'd like to get 300k out of it still.
sorry for the long worrysome post just trying to make best/safest decision.

Drive it ok, or with the 10 plate
in stock position and ull be fine, clutch will start to slip when u get on it, not when ur actually using it "right" ie lettin it accelerate ok and shiftin right and everything, not jammin gears..
Ill put it this way, my banks plate full forward seems to hold well if i stay off of it when towing, its not so bad, so urs shouldnt be either, My clutch is stock too, and slippin, but its gone soon.. I destroyed it sure to messin with it, im just waitin for it to kick so i can get the southbend in there..

with 4.10s i don't think you will have any real heat issues. i suggest a set of gauges first,#10 and 3k gsk and block the waste gate on the turbo. this should be a towing monster. i have a #10 in my wifes truck and the stock clutch is holding. but her truck rarly gets beat on, unlike line. o yea hers has 240k on the stock clutch.

with just a plate i would have the factroy cat and muffler fall off and put a straight through 3" muffler in its place. and the clutch is iffy, so hold some don't. but it would be a wise move to put in a southbend con "O"or con "ofe". mike

You are going to need an air intake system for sure.. The stocker just won't cut it. I had the BHAF before the SAII and it was OK, the SAII however is a great improvement and you really notice it under load.
I haven't done the exhaust yet and have just creeped the plate back to just slip the clutch if I am being stupid. It pulls like crazy, but with the 3KGSK you are adding, the temps will get toasty in the upper RPM range, say over 2600 RPM under a good 30+psi load.
If you want to use all the power you have, a turbo may be in order after a clutch upgrade...LOL...
