Toyo is Listing a 265/70/17 Load Range E A/T
I've been doing google searches for 17in tires for awhile, ideally hoping to find a load range E A/T for use as a 3 season tire, and a studdable load range E AT for winter use. Up until now the OEM Michelin LTX A/S and the Goodrich Rugged Trail were the only 17in load range E that I've found. It appears that Toyo has or is about to introduce a wider range of 17in tires in their Open Counry A/T, where they list a 265/70/17 Load range E on their web site. They have offered a 285/70/17 load range D for awhile, and while it has received some reviews as a good all around tire, with good handling, low hydroplaning, decent snow traction and such, it seems to wear quickly with diesel trucks.
In the Toyo line it'd be nice to see their M55 offered in a 17in load range E, as it's studdable and seems to decent tire life. In the Michelin line I'd like to see their commercial A/T or Traction tire offered in a 17in load range E, both studdable and with more siping, as the Michelins in the 16in get good marks for tire life. The popular Goodrich A/T isn't as attractive for me as the design doesn't have the deep channels for water to minimize hydroplaning, which has been a complaint by some, and in it's current offerings it can deliver pretty short tire life with some of the diesels.
