Switching trucks?

I'm seriously considering selling my truck to get a '03-'04 CTD with a 6 speed long bed. My question is, was there any major changes between the '03 to '04 years (pre-2004.5)? Do all the '03's have the HO engine?

I don't want to spend any more money on one and I don't want a newer year so I would like to stick to one of these.

Thanks,

Craig

I don't think the HO engine came out till 04.5, I could be wrong though.

If you get a six speed, it is gauranteed to be an HO. If it has a five speed, it is an SO. Both models were produced in '03 and '04. Verify each truck by looking at the tag on driver's side of the valve cover.

The only difference between the model years is the '04 back seats have headrests, and some '03's have a passenger door keyed lock (like mine).

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Very helpful.

On the 03 and 04s, the HO is 305/555. It's posted on the driver's side of the engine. The SO has less power and California version has even less power. Some 03s have the 47RE and some have the 48RE.
