Stereo upgrade

Hey guys, I know there's a lot of threads on here about the RAQ radio but I can't find what I'm looking for. I found some RAQs on ebay, listed as MP3 players/6 CD changers, and it doesn't look like they have the MP3 input jack. Is that the case? Do they only play MP3s on disc? Thanks in advance.

Frank

....hmmmmm.... ...so there's no other RAQ to search, just the ones I've found I guess. Cant give up that MP3 jack.

That's the conundrum. Get the upgraded factory radio, lose the headphone jack on the front of the face. Sorry dude.

Never been a except on anything audio but MP3 is a recording format. You can burn MP3 audio onto CD's and of course devices such as IPOD's record and play the MP3 format. Must newer CD players are capable of playing MP3 formatted audio.

He is referring to the imput audio jack on the front of the base CD player. It allows external MP3 players (such as an iPod) to be connected and played through the factory stereo. The RAQ stereo does not have this imput jack on the front of the deck.

...hey since we brought it up again, do you know if there is a way to hook into the back of the RAQ with a pigtail to leave a female jack exposed out front?

That's probably a dumb question...anything can be done, I just wonder how readily it could be done.

I might be mistaken, but I believe the only ports on the back of the RAQ radio are for the factory harness and antenna. I don't think there is an AUX imput jack back there that you could run an extension off of. I am not 100% on this, however, so don't take it as gospel.

If you want to spend about $200.00 mopar has an ipod integration kit which has a AUX pig tail as well as an adapter for the ipod. It just plugs into the back of the factory head unit. It works great.

For that kind of money, one could replace the weak factory head unit (only pushes about 13 watts per channel) with an aftermarket with iPod integration.

Check this guys stuff out.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge...=p4506.c0.m245

This harness ties into the stock stereo's cd changer input. If you do not have the radio he lists for this harness he also offers this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge...=p4506.c0.m245

I have not used either one of these, nor do I know the seller, just something that I ran across the other day while surfing ebay.

It seems like a good idea and I had wished I had found it earlier for my own truck.

Thanks all, I think I may just stick with the stock unit for now. I'm not sure how much I'm willing to spend to see the artist's name on the radio. I like the iPod jack way too much.
