05 stereo upgrade...

Does anyone make a pigtail for an aftermarket deck with the 05 harness?
I searched and in a few old threads people mentioned that the pigtails for 03/04s dont work with the 05 and that no one made one for the 05s yet...
Probably going with an Eclipse deck, had one in my 97 and loved it...
Already have Eclipse 6x9s for the front doors, and 6.5s for the rear.

Also, just wanted to see what people had as far as amp/sub.
Not going with anything crazy, probably just a new deck, 4 channel amp(undecided on brand), and a single 10" sub.
Just something that will sound better than stock, be able to play mp3s with the new deck, and have a little bass when I want it...

TIA guys

You shouldn't have any problem at all finding an adapter. I bought one at Best Buy when I bought my truck last September. If I recall, the needed to get it out of the install bay though.

Is your truck an 05?
From what I hear 03-04s are fine, but on the 05s the switched a few conectors in the harness and the 03/04 pigtail wont line up, and you need a wiring diagram to get the right wires hooked up in the right position...

I ran a pioneer deck in mine with a harness from Best Buy. I don't have the Infinity System, so that may be the issue, but it worked fine for me including hooking up the Ipod. I returned it though.... didn't like the current pioneer deck.

I run the stock deck for now because of the 1 year free Sirius satellite. That feeds a Diamond Audio D7 7056 6 Channel amp. Two pairs are bridged for 100w to the front Rockford Power 6x9's. The last pair is bridged for the JL Audio stealthbox. When the free year is up, I'll buy a new aftermarket deck with Sirius built in. Good luck!

Crutchfield gives you one for free along with the install kit. I bought my Alpine from them a few months back.

Did you have the infinity, or non infinity system?(No infinity here)
I think that might be the problem with the universal harnesses for the 01+ chryslers...

Im guessing yours is non-infinity too right?
How did you like your alpine deck? Play mp3s well, and no skipping?
Thats probably the main reason I may go back with eclipse is mp3s, and never had it skip even on the harshest of roads....

Thanks for the replies all

No Infinity system here. There are wire harnesses available to bypass it if you have it though.

Eclipse is definitely one of the better units out there, especially if theft is an issue. But, for the money you can't beat an Alpine, Sony, or Pioneer. I have been very happy with all 3 over the years. I think the Alpines have the most ability to control extra features though - i.e. amps, sat. radio, mp3, & disc changers.

As far as skipping, I think that it really all depends on the installer. I have installed stuff really fast and didn' ttake my time to do it right, only to have to take it out & do it over again. Just make sure you bend over all of the tabs & that you use the pads w/ the sticky stuff on one side. Those pads act as a vibration damper (some install kits come w/ & some don't. Don't worry about it if they don't.). Good Luck!
