Interesting points Rip,
gonna have to listen to some speakers that come in both shapes and see if I can tell the differences. Might just have been in my head that the bigger speakers had the bigger sound.

I'm not saying the 6.5 is louder, but i am saying that it is a better overall performer from low to high as compared to a 6x9, with a 6.5 you have a less chance of noise cancellation from the shape.

Man Id love to hear your setup Rick.

I have JL coaxials front and rear, 6x9 and 6.5 on a 300/4 and it sounds just awesome. If components are that much clearer thats crazy.

Never sat in a rig with really high dollar stuff like Focals or such. Probably better off that I dont....

Pioneer makes some good stuff. Its about average these days, never had any trouble with it, but nothing to call home and brag about. Just good clean reliable sound.

How bad could a company screw up a speaker design I wonder lol, I agree they are all getting pretty good, its now the materials its made of that now make the differences and most of the price.

I wish you could hear it too Blake, absolutely love it, can turn the bass **** down and jam out rock or country or crank it up and straight bump. Listening to old Lynard Skynard rocks out hardcore for me, just the brilliance of each sound component doing its job. I think what really takes the cake for me is I haven't had to touch my amps, wiring, or sub and speakers in over 2 yrs, they have just kept on going.

Good for you Rip,
Did you use any sound deadening mats as well ?
Glad to hear (pun intended) that someone loves his stereo.

Sound deadener in the doors only, helped out substantially. Other than that no.

Sorry for the hijack.
