Spare Tire Mounting options

I reciently put 34.5'' bfg tires on my truck and realized that the stock 32'' spare wont do. So what has every one else been doing? Im thinking of mounting another 34.5'' spare in the bed, has anyone got any pictures of this?

I think you can still squeeze it up under the bed where the old one is, was following a newer dodge the other day that had a pretty good sized BFG AT(want to say 315) under the bed. I finally got some new tires so Im going to use the best old tire as a spare and put it under the bed.

I might have to try then. Guess its worth a shot in order to keep some bed space.

I just made a flat bracket for mine the other day I'll take some pics when I get home in a couple days for you but I just went to home depot and got a length of 1 inch all thread and a connecting nut (the nut is about 2 inches or so long) and welded a handle up and a mounting bracket for the nut. Drilled a hole in the bed for the nut and bolted it in then just lay the tire in the bed and screw the handle down. I couldn't find a tappered piece for centering the wheel but found a PVC flange for a drain fitting that is solid with a center lip that works perfect. Just drill a hole for the all thread to go through and screw it down. I'll get pics up for you in a couple days though. Total cost $12 and I can still hook up my gooseneck with it mounted and theres enough room to mount a 40incher in it although I'll never go that big

Wow that's good to know. I've had my stupid spare in my box for a while and the lack of room is making me mad. What are you guys doing to keep the spare from getting damaged? When I bought my tires I got 5 and 5 new rims and am rotating the spare in, so I don't want any rocks flying up and damaging the rims

A 315 will fit in the stock mounting, the only place you have to watch is if you have an aftermarket differential cover like the MagHytek. Under load the spare WILL rest on the diff cover.

Somewhere in a post here, someone addressed the interference issue with some kind of a spacer/bloc where the rear leafs contact their stop. That's been quite a while ago, but the spacer limits the drop and the interference.

I have no idea what would be a good search word(s) to find that thread. Maybe whoever made the block will read this and give directions to the information.
